i write
in threes
regretting
i'll only
die once
and probably
won't remember
my prime
associations

a perplexing joy
has found me
made me
unmade me
built a vanguard
in my heart
to sustain me
'gainst the wintry front
of gray and short days
i laugh
and love the joy
of joy
puzzled that i could not hide
nor run
nor scorn enough
to mock away
the smiles and childish pleasure
of your love

When all the years look the same
and we are older
my walk to your love
is time
I could spend
desiring you today

my walk to your love
is time
I could spend
desiring you today

to have love near
is a luxury
with no sorrow added to it
though it be a plain
or predictable love
absence makes it not
grow fonder
only wistful and impressionistic

we walk toward
a tangible touch that
gives strength to pauper-professions
of a love less refined
we revel in a smile
a gentle word
a sweet touch of hands
from a friend
who is at least
there
here
now

I could desire you today
or i could
walk to my friend's house and drink coffee
laugh
sigh
and desire you
tomorrow

An August moon glows
peeking through trees
teasing the dance
warm in a breeze
a tempter of hearts
under a canopy
of black velvet
shimmering
the air carries
the melodies of remembrance
and recalls the steps of the dance.

triple sec
distilled and laid
upon the iced
realities
of causality's
casualties, making fun
from an adios
and regrets
stirred into
a rising sun
which makes dawn
such a glorious burp.

just glance
at the rope-bound
hammock-found
resurrection
of a man
spouting
maledictions
in a tropical
depression
of mai tai
ruming
rhyming
remembering
and remorse

Gilt

In the hurryup
run fast
before you get
too wet last
vibration
of summer’s winged
calls and relentless
advance of rain
and its reminders
of fall
the storm
that twisted the
leaf and bloom
stripped illusions
leaving me but
a naked branch
upon which to
hang a spring
notion,

There,
I saw you in
the gold of
afterlight
and graced you
with the shelterless
gaze of my eyes
casting a halo of
forgiveness that
was as thin
as I could beat it
but burnished
your memory
nonetheless

Communicable

we wrote enthusiastically
of our detachment
in cafés, shrugging
off the exhilaration
of our ennui
and connecting
associations of negligible
nutritive value considering
that nibbling isn’t
the sine qua non
of alimentation.

Tho the process of making
lines and assignations
seemed more than momentary
but less than antediluvian,
we were simplified and
satisfied with the location
and the certainty of minor
equations, in balance

post hoc ergo propter hoc
subsequent to the satiety of
antinomian certainty and
purpose granted
to autonomic
functions , we dispatched
there in accidental
fatalism what we drew upon
the table and served
each of us to the design.
of exquisite corpses
produced by our
chance arrangement
and caught out at the
moment of art,
that coincided beyond
the casual sorting
that makes everything
meaningful
in spite of itself.

like genius is contagious
but not virulent.
you walked away,
and I thought,
I know you,
I know,
I
and found in that
something
but nothing
to fear.

madame tussaud
detailed
death masks
in chalky wax
for the illiterati
decimated
by a mob society
right in reaction
but disdaining virtue

perfect.

Decadence

the gates
of all the great
estates
have fallen to
the mildly
overweight
in trainers,
willing to delay
in line
and patiently
pocket the brochures
that explain
what they should
note
while stating
the reasonable
price of admission
fee simple complete.

I prefer

Careening down
the sides of coloured
carnival rides
as if our cries
of exhilaration
could be confined
by safety belts
on dangerous
heights and swerves
or lessened by
the thump and
jerk of a wicked
winch that pulled
us halting to the top
where all we wanted
was to curve
into the sky,
a rainbow
and slide
into a pot of gold.

ice

I find that cold
comfort is often
times more than
it is cracked
up to be.

LOL

Hee haw!

Having fun with two's!

I like limiting myself to two's,
cuz threes, fours can
triangulate
and strangulate
