1. Only original poetry, please. All poems are the property of the posting poet. Please do not copy or reproduce in another area.

2. Shhhh! Please keep chat or comments to a minimum.

3. No huge graphics, blinking smiley faces, etc. Just words, please. Let your words paint the image! (Plus, it's easier for dial-up friends to browse.)

That's it. Now, get busy and write!

The paths of portmeirion
all lead to the sea
not all prisons
are unpleasant
nor all
unpleasantness
a prison.

What serves the goose
and serves the gander
reductio ad absurdum
the sauce by heat
made concentrate
renders savoury
the platter
And whether fish
or fowl the dish
we care not
when we partake
cause it’s the same
for girl or man
the fire extracts
our self absorbtion
and tasty juices
by heat reduced,
regardless of our gender.

Saucy and seductive
lines are blurred
by the saturated senses
cooking is sexy
and sex is
delicious
either way
a recipe for disaster
or delight...

we climbed
in the clouds
on latin mountains
covered in gray
craters tinged lapis
and quetzal green
a sheen
obscene disturbance
volcanic shudder
a mutter of the earth
in search
of an outlet
and a response

I saw a thread today devoted to political lymericks. I was not pleased. I'm an unfortunate advocate of the style and while not its best proponent, still lay claim to being able to tap my foot on the floor and count out syllables. Most of the time. So, in defence of an overly excersized art form, I offer the following:

john kerry declared his election
would result in historic perfection
of an u.n. malise
we can just count the days
'til our laws are an e.u. refelection

koffi with cream

barter's economy is crude
when humanity trades oil for food
but the barrons of blight
can pocket the bite,
and the little guy always gets screwed.

some art
just shines
sun silent
naturally imbued
with hues
as hard to find
as true love

some nights
the lagubrians
seranade
the paranoids
with songs
of past future

some nights
are just seranade
most days are
songs from yesterday
I need the music
of the stars
and romance in
black velvet dance.

dawn amazes with its choir
daylight serenades

Not sure what your poem means
not sure why you wrote it
's got metre, rhyme and silly scenes
past that, I hardly note it

:o)

stravinsky was a clever guy
'haps brillant is the word
when he composed you can't deny
you heard a firebird

Dusk donned her velvet cloak
climbed aboard a
shooting star
silently speed
though nodding skies
blazing her way
leaving a trail of flaming ribbons
scattering star dust on a velvet night

peasantries

drilling in anwr, the liberals resist
our back yard’s too beautiful they insist
with kerry’s fuel for his yacht
bought from third world despots
they’re all crypto colonialists.

To paint well is simply this: to put the right color in the right place. — Paul Klee

either, other

its not
just about
colour, but
the chemistry
of our light
that sounds

when contrasts
vibrate.
