Is it just me, or does this guy look like George Felos? It's his cousin. It's hereditary, but the gene can express itself in various ways.

According to Ernest Bracewell Sr., Southside Market's history began in 1882 out on Farm to Market Road 1704. As the story is told, a man by the name of William J. Moon owned the property at that time and the Moons would slaughter beef & pork and bring it into Elgin to sell house to house from the back of a wagon.
This practice lasted from around 1882 up until 1886, when the Moons set up a location in town at 117 Central Street. The first Southside Market was born.
Records show that Lee Wilson took over the business in 1927. Wilson was in and out of business until the early 1940's. He sold Southside to Jerry Stach and Van Zimmerhanzel in 1944. The two men joined in various partnerships after purchasing the business, including a long-time partnership with Jerry's brother, Edwin. Eventually, Jerry bought out the other interests and ran the market for almost twenty-five years, selling it to Ernest and Rene Bracewell in September of 1968.
Since that time, Southside Market has been run by three generations of the Bracewell family, and it still sells the original Elgin Hot Sausage, which is made today just as it was in 1882.
Some really good BBQ just 20 minutes from Austin,
and now available over the internet.

Heaven.

Not to worry. Most of us are praying believers. We humor Swervie, and avoid arguing matters of faith with him. Word of warning: don't argue barbeque with him either. Oh Swervie is a good guy with a big heart even if he won't admit to it .. he just has a different way of expressing himself
But then again .. so do I ..

More stupidity than humanly possibleHoweird Dean...beauty Loddy. I just can not believe anyone is buying the BS this idiot is putting out. The democratic party is toast if this is the best they can come up with.

I'm still betting that the PIAPS will humbly accept the dim nomination at the convention...there is no way that she will get out on the campaign trail before she safely has the nomination of the feeble-minded party.

You Texans just don't get it. I love y'all, but to a southerner, beef, while it might be quite tasty (no argument there) does not equal barbecue.

Hi Horsie, and good afternoon.
Not that anyone asked me, but I adore Swervie. Servant of the 9 is a MAN and a very nice one and has become one of my Dearest Friends. We don't always agree on things, but when it comes to decency, honor, all around goodness, patient and kind, it's Swervie. He makes room for my human fraility, and I like to think I return same.

Great photo of sausage, steak and beans Loddy...you sure know how to bring giant tears to my eyes.
It's amazing, here in Chile they have all the ingredients for good food, but just don't know what to do with them. The food is bland, pretty much unimaginative, and fairly tasteless. They don't do hot spicy...geez, I can't even find a decent cheddar cheese here. I was shopping today for survival stuff to take up the mountain, and asked to taste the only yellow cheese in the entire market...a HUGE supermarket with over 50-checkout stands. If I closed my eyes and imagined chedder...it actually tasted slightly like chedder cheese. Anything sharp has too, too much flavor for them. And the sausage is totally tasteless...Ball Park franks have more flavor than what I can buy down here.

"You're not the first..." That's for sure. I never (very often anyway) used to make typos before I met Mo. Now, I cannot post without bunches of them, usually requiring at least 2, sometimes more, proofreadings, and even then I miss a bunch. Sometimes I try to blame it on my keyboard, but I know it is really Mo's fault.

My spelling is pathetic anymore, and it's just too much trouble to worry about it. :) How sad is that? :)

Hi Ringy,
Yes, Swervie is unique and a FReep'n treasure, aside from Loddy's food photos, his are my favorite posts, but I wouldn't let it be known that you don't always agree with him.
As for "human fraility"....what the heck is that???
