I am very sorry for your loss, darks. To you it is personal and deep.
But we must recognize that to some people in this world, a loss like that doesn't touch them in the same way. Like the parents of suicide bombers who cry out holding pictures of their dead sons or daughters, vowing to send their other children off on a similar mission someday, too. Their hearts are so full of hate and lies that normal human emotions are not a part of them.
The "peace activist" ultra-liberal Corries may not be quite so far gone, but they are no longer in the realm of normal. They are willingly deceived like cultists and the truth is foreign to them. If their eyes ever open, they will see how foolish they were when raising their daughter.

As a parent, I realize that as my children grow and make their own decisions about their lives the world is not going to see each of them as a "child." In a way, as Grant grew up, I saw the demise of his childhood. His smooth chubby baby cheeks are hollowed out and whiskery now. Whatever happens to him now happens to a young man, not a child. He will always be my son, but he is no longer my child.

Every parent grieves a child lost the rest of their lives. But, the ultimate pain for a parent is that it is not in the natural order of things.

It's actually a huge builder convention, with courses, and a huge expo with everything invented for a home that has ever been. So, it's a business thing, that exhausts us by the end of each day.

Fun but very tiring. We have little time for the true Vegas experience (whatever that is!).....yaknow, losing mucho $$$$$ and pretending it's fun.......

LL wouldn't go to the strip joints anyway!!!!!

The Corries have captialised off their child's death in a way that sickens me.
It's as if they saw dollar signs or something when she died.
I understand what you're saying.
I just cannot phathom why any parent would act as they have.

You could use our room during the day to sleep, and then go out and pillage the strip when we get back. Very efficient use of space and time.

But, there's 14 years difference between my wife and I, she being the older of the two of us.
My step-daughter cracked jokes about the two of us being ancient and freaking people out with saying "dad" and "Daughter" to each other.
She was only 6 years younger than I.
It was worth a few jokes, and she was quite the jokester.
I think that's what I miss the most, the jokes and laughing.
The term "natural order of things" doesn't quite apply as well to my experience.

Not much was or is really 'natural' about my life, considering.

This story about Rachel Corrie and her parents reminds me in a way of Amy Beale. She was the young woman who had gone to South Africa to...I don't know what. Work for racial harmony? Anyway, she was with some of her black companions (she was white), when she was seized by a group of black men and beaten to death. The perpetrators were put in jail. They are free now. Amy Beale's parents have gone to South African and have befriended these men that beat their daughter to death. They are promoting the "harmony and healing" thing. I am appalled that they could do this. These men beating their daughter to death was a hate crime if ever there was one. I'm sure I wouldn't become best buddies with the thugs that had beaten my child to death. Koombaya, I guess.

When do we honor Amy Beale for her contribution to freedom in the world?

And this year, when do we honor Rachel Corrie, the 23-year-old young American killed by an Israeli Defense Force bulldozer driver as she stood non-violently in front of the home of a Palestinian family? Even those who might not agree with her position, must acknowledge that she was a young woman committed to peace in one of the most violent places of a war-torn world. As she stood there in an orange fluorescent vest, she practiced what all non-violent protestors have been taught ø to try to look at your attacker in the eye with love and find that personÕs humanity. When do we honor Rachel Corrie and others, like the Christian Peacemaker Teams sent by the historic peace churches to that place to observe and stand between Palestinians and Israelis on behalf of peace?"

What a wonderful kitty photo! Our cat didn't pull down the tree, but she sure had it shaking when she rounded it and head off in the direction she came from.

We also nearly had feline flambe a couple of nights ago. I had the candles in the centerpiece on the dining room table lit, and Maia, the larger, lumbering elderly Maine Coon cat, decided to jump up on the table and get some attention from my hubby. In so doing, her tail swished over the candles, and flared up in smoke and flame. I was in the kitchen, heard the shouting, and was just sure that the poor kitty was engulfed in flames. I came out to see her heading underneath a side table, and smell the singed fur. She didn't catch fire, but she's got a large singed area on her tail. She also didn't suffer any burns. Yikes...
