Then there is Adware
http://www.tucows.com/preview/236049.html I also found this bit of info
http://www.eci.co.za/bodyindex.html )Install a program that checks for pests ( spyware, trojans, keyloggers etc ) We found two very good programs. Pestpatrol and Adaware 6 The free versions of Pestpatrol blocks new pests but does not give you the opportunity to remove them easily. Adaware (free version) allows you to remove them but does not scan for incoming pests. The results from these two programs will scare you! Visit the www.pestpatrol.com and
http://lavasoft.element5.com/ websites for more info

I've used Adaware, but most it finds cookies and quarantines them so you can remove them (I think). I haven't reinstalled it since I got my new hard drive, new modem and memory card. I only got my computer up and running yesterday. Got ZoneAlarm reinstalled, however.

Thank you ever so much for the hints.
I'll keep trying if these don't work.
In the meantime, I'm heading for bed, so you all be good and watch out for those gators......

I'm off to bed myself. I just finished helping my hubby scan photos and tables for a presentation he has to give on Wednesday. He has no idea how to use a computer, so the task fell to me. I also started typing up his hand-written work, and it's full of medical jargon. Thank heavens I had physiology and organic chemistry in college, so at least I can kind of spell - his writing is really difficut to read, and I did some big-time guessing. Well, he'll have to edit it. :)

I haven't used adware in awhile myself
other freepers had recommended pestpatrol and spybot and then seem to clean up things on my computer
I also had to do a complete scan of the whole hard drive because Gator was everywhere

That's weird. It's been up and down here for several hours. Not long at a time, more like constant hiccups.

I don't know how much traffic in a given area effects service or to what individual servers interfere. Might be a problem with my service. They're lame sometimes.

Nice looking ranchito Westy...only $150k, not bad.
I gotta have more water...when the wife and I cowboyed for two years in Nevada, I got real tired of trying to worry around what little water there was just to try to keep the horse pature green. We have water problems in Idaho, but I can always put up at least one crop of hay.
I think I would rather have a little desert place in Baja than in Arizona.
