I've never been to the Baja resty. I LOVE Puerta Vallarta. I just like the easy going lifestyle and constant sunshine. ALL my trips to Mexico have been to PV! I realize Westy had a motorhome and camped more in the outter areas. The sparkling water and sunshine look very appealing to me as I sit here freezing my patootie. Slipping and sliding all over getting from the car to the office etc. You get my point!

I guess I look at the land and see barren and a hard way to live in many ways such as crops, water, vegetation, hot, dusty, sweaty many times of the year.

Today we have RV's and campers and if functioning and plenty of water and gas I am sure it makes it a lot easier to tolerate!

A place to sight see. respect, and visit yes! A place to live 24/365 no!

I was raised in East Detroit there all season were experienced and I valued very much!

I get excited with water falls, hills, mountains, trees woods, fields streams, snow, rain, sun etc.

Tell me what you years for in Mexico?

I like the emptyness, the mountain people, the long history of making it in a harsh land, the unique plants, the whole bloody mess....

There were/are 3 parts to California. Mexico now has 2 of the parts, Baja California, and Baja California Sur.The US has the 3rd part, Alta California, only we just call it California...Baja means lower, Alta means upper, and Sur means South..

Gringos call the whole thing Baja...It is different in many ways from mainland Mexico....

You either love the place or you hate it. Doesn't seem to be any middle ground....

.....Westy......

first of all I was never disrespectful or did any name calling!

grin·go n. pl., grin·gos. Offensive. Slang. Used as a disparaging term for a foreigner in Latin America, especially an American or English person.

Next I asked questions to learn and understand!

I also express those things I since which appears to resemble a deserted planet!

Californios would never call us Gringos, but us Gringos call each other that all the time...Lighten up, big city folks don't know it all...

Californios are the decendents of the old Mission folk...Get ahold of Harry W. Crosby's book Antigua California if you really want to learn more about a special place....

.....Westy.....

Just logged on.

Isn't the capture of Saddam a wonderful tonic? Beats the winter blues every day.

You seem to be an expert that is why I am asking you!

This is a time to sell one on your passion for Baja!

I was not always a big city folk I come from an area in my youth that was farms, fields, outhouses and dirt roads!

My older son, his girlfriend and her Dad came to visit last night. We had a great evening, then I got up and cooked breakfast and we all went to our church. I normally check headlines on the net, but decided not to this morning. We learned during the sermon.....the pastor told everyone....shocked silence from us all. We had a great service, but got home and checked on line and Fox news and started to celebrate when we found out it really happened.

I have a nice glass of wine.....I'm lifting it to our forces who did this great thing, and to those of us who supported them.

*Cheers*

We have a huge group of exiled Iraqis about half an hour towards Detroit. The pictures of their celebration were just as good as those from Baghdad.

We can be proud......ceptin the weasel Democrats amongst us....
