It is both haunting and beautiful.

I was not a conservative when in college, was anti-war for about a year back then.....I became very apolitical after graduation, being amongst the lefties gave me the creeps, plus I couldn't stand the anti-war crowd and its negativity. So I left the left and became non-political.

It wasn't until later that I realized how stoopid I had been in college and how wrong us anti-war types were. Later, I had a good friend who coached one of my sons who came back from the war and was literally spit on and called a baby killer when he finished his college degree.

Listening to him gave me the chills. I am haunted that our country, many people who I brushed shoulders with, did that to those fine young men.

You've probably heard the incredible story of the BCS mess that happened this weekend, but......in case you haven't, get ready for a strange one......

On Saturday, USC whupped the Beavers (the Beavers just couldn't get on top of their game.....:-), the LSU Tigers whupped catpuupy's Dawgs......and shocker of shockers, Oklahoma got absolutely destroyed by K-State in the Big twelve final......it was one of the most lopsided games I have ever seen.....just stunning.

So, we all expected the BCS to end up USC and LSU as #1 and #2 and play each other off. The coaches poll and the AP poll had that ranking.....but wait! The BCS computers put Oklahoma still as #1. Unfrickinbelievable!

The great news is that #1 USC will play #4 Michigan in the Rose Bowl, and #2 and #3 will play in the so-called National Championship Sugar Bowl.

This will make a great ending to the year....two great games, and lots of controversy. I used to think Oklahoma was unbeatable, never having watched them play.....but quite honestly I think the two best teams will play in the Rose Bowl.....it should be an awesome game, I don't think either team has played as tough a game as this one yet.

I thought this whole BCS thingy was 'posed to clear up all the controversy? At least no one from Floriduh is involved in the big dance.

I think the USC-Michigan game will be a doozy...besides, they both have great bands. Wonder who will be named Nat. Chimps if Michigan wins, and the Okies lose their game??

We gots NFR Rodeo over the weekend, so all was not lost.

I look back on all the ones we have lost in just my life time and see no sign of a great uprising. There is griping, but that's as far as it goes...Just glad I don't have much more time in this sorry world....

I hate to get down on this country, but at my age I don't see much light at the end of the tunnel.. Of course I've been predicting so much of this stuff happening now, for years and years.. and my kids can 'vertify' that..

I think as we get older we see so much that the young people don't see, or never were old enough to compare.

"They" do it to us slowly until "they" get the power to ram it down our throats...If you read the last Fred look at how many of the little freedoms have been taken from us for our own good, Yeah!!!!!

Hi Grannie,

I've been pretty swamped at work...get home and am exhausted after a week of hardly any sleep. This last weekend the little wife returned from a month-long trip home...she got to spend time with friends, relatives and my horse...grrrr!

Oh well, hopefully it won't be much longer and we can load up the pups and head back to the real world.

I remember my grandfather in Louisiana railing about the first law in the state that mandated driver's licenses. He was reading the newspaper and threw it all over the room.

He says to my grandmother....I paid for them to build these GD roads and now they want to tax me again? Well, I will not GD buy one... and he never did.

Mind you, this was before you even had to take a driving test or have your car inspected.

You're right Westy.. They are taking a little of our freedoms all the time.. Fred had it right. We want to be safe, and we are being taken.. No one has any guts anymore to say 'stop', enough.r.

We want the government to protect us from everything, because we don't have the testicular fortitude to do it ourselves anymore. It's sickening..

We are going to reap what we've sowed..but don't include me in that.. I never wanted anything from the bas-turds..

grannie, I hope a lot of folks who signed up for the "no call list" provided free from our own helpful government, will one day realize that we don't get nuthin' free from them. LOL
