Goodbye FreeRepublic

I joined Freerepublic in an attempt to converse with other conservatives. Lately it's been a struggle even to find a conservative post.
All I see are two kinds of people, the "blame Clinton(and/or) Democrats for everything bad that happens(ed),
and the Bushbots that put GWB up to a place equaling Christ.

Neither are true, and I'm a truthseeker first and foremost.

All I see now are threads full of propaganda, ..War is peace. Ignorance is strength. Freedom is slavery. Lies are truth. Patriotism is treason. Fascism is patriotism.
I see very few coherent posts, and almost none espousing true conservatism.
We have both houses and a President, yet the spending is out of control. We get rid of the death tax, but now my grandchildren will spend their life paying down the debt, if they aren't drafted to fight the next oppresive ruler in some desert of the Presidents next whim.
I could go on, but an opus is not what I intended. I wish everyone well, and will keep you in my prayers

Thanks for letting us know you're quitting. I was afraid
you'd quit before I ever got to read any of your comments!

If you think there is bad-mouthing and bashing here, try The Democratic Underground. That's where it happens big time!

Bill Buckley conservatives they're not.

You mean they're not pompous windbags who use big obscure words just to show they know them?

Guilty.

Have fun whining about FR on Liberty Post's Biker Bar section. I hope you'll obtain the gift to see the truth over there.

Your post was incoherent. I can understand the excessive Bush loving. I do support the President and I agreed that a war on Iraq was necessary. However that does not blind me to the fact he does not use his position to explain or persuade the American people to his policies well. He only does it rarely.

I have been concerned that he does not appear to understand the danger to liberty some of the actions of his administration. The Patriot Act for one. I am concerned about the holding of Padilla without trial or access to an attorney.

Never the less, I will continue to support President Bush since I agree with most of his policies. I am concerned that the events of 9-11 allowed the administration and Congress to the largest spending spree. Part of the increase spending is needed. A lot probably is not.

However your comment sounds like whining. Much like a child who takes his toys and goes home.

This is really for all as I read this incredibly bitter letter. I joined this forum and I have read some of the wittiest, incisive, and passionate posts ever, and I have been a veteran for 3 years on the Delphi forums. FreeRepublic and the Freepers welcomed me with open arms, and they are people who really walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

I always felt the "our debt is going to be paid by our grandchildren" jazz is an illegitimate argument, and one which all failed anti Bush and anti GOP invariably fall on. The main fact is that, "hello" A history lesson: President Andrew Jackson (okay he was a Democrat LOL) paid off the national debt in January of 1835. Now that was the ONLY period our nation was NOT IN THE RED. Every single year since has been deficit after deficit. The liberals act like Reagan invented the budget deficit and national debt. In fact, when George Washington's Secretary of the Treasury Hamilton restructured the government's various debts into more or less what we are today in 1791, the national debt was $75 million bucks, or about $18 per person, given the population at that time. In fact, Hamilton saw the national debt as a great way to absorb the debts incurred by the the colonies (now states) during the Revolution, and also, and most importantly as a CLEVER device for creating capital for the new nation's growing industries.

Paying off the national debt does not automatically mean economic good times, because after Pres. Jackson did it, the country went into the longest recession in our country's history.

Yes, there are a lot of Bush-bots here, as you would expect, and
yes, there are the brain-dead who think bashing the left for everything
untoward that comes down the path makes them somehow superior.

There are a lot freepers in between, though.  Too many for you not
to have noticed and, shudder, gotten to know.   Never heard of you because it doesn't sound like you even tried.
Adios.

Actually, the converse is true. And you couldn't pay me to be a "modern Conservative." It's another term for Old Democrat.
