~The Dragon Flies' Lair IV~
November 7, 2003 | bentfeather

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Please don't touch my eyes in this place with those images
Of the dark space.
This is for poems, and ideas
That is what I am seeing
I know, I know, and It hurts
You do not want my rebuke
But I simply seek the neutral zone
Just stop it, else, I will spill my serious anger
Upon you
You don't want that, I promise.
Before God, learn the lesson, of the root.
I am of short temper, and I am not unschooled.
My boy, has friends, sacrificed for all of us.
I do not need this, understand.
I hate spelling it out to you, but you simply require
Honesty!

Go post pictures of dead and dying troops in some other place.
You will not understand my comments, but others will.
I mean you no personal insult.
If you do contine, then I will never come here again

Never.

So there it is the secret of ridding me from this Poet place.
Nothing to it.
You simply have to be a lover of death and it's sights, in order to be rid of me.

only ten blocks away
buildings burned - perhaps burning now
the august night broken by sniper fire
police men bleeding in the streets
a sniper surrenders (perhaps out of ammunition)
Gun Jammed?
someone sed he was framed in a doorway
like a picture - his hands in the air
when they shot him -

only ten blocks away
from my quiet apartment
with its green ceramic buddhas
& science fiction books
unread skin magazines to be cut up
for collages

only ten blocks away
from my total helplessness
from my boredom enforced by the state
they are looting stores
trying to get televisions
so they can watch the riots
on the 11 pm news

the national guard jeeps patrol
the streets again
the army-green trucks with the
giant white star on the side
moving in the summer lightning

i cd tell you partly
why it happened
but you wouldnt believe me

like in Milwaukee
during a reading
just after i said
"this is a paranoid poem - written when i was
experimenting with paranoid states of consciousness,
but im not there anymore"
& a young girl sat writing
"shows paranoid symptoms"
probably for her psychology class
not hearing me at all

i cld try to tell you
about the hopeless despair
ingrained in ghetto walls
& police brutality or police stupidity
or police reality is more than just words
to define situation
by students looking for a cause.
the situations exist & continue
quietly in the dark while the
protest goes on in daylight -
both unheard.

Really
the police try to protect
the banks - and everything else
is secondary

during the riots
i watched the news
& didnt pick sides for a change

i just sat wondering about all
the living room revolutionaries
safe in the suburbs
who cheered everytime someone
was shot or a building went up
in smoke

ten blocks away
it was real
thousands of tourists
arrived

No one was ever yet a great poet, without being at the same time a profound philosopher. For poetry is the blossom and the fragrancy of all human knowledge, human thoughts, human passions, emotions, language. (Samuel Taylor Coleridge)

Please teach me more!

Stone and Wave

he's always been the rock
the solid space where I can stand
where my waves can wash over
the water pooling in small cracks and crevices
held safe for a time
then retreating, returning
splashing and shattering
wearing the stone down over the years
softening the edges
a great big rock
that will last a long time
and I've been glad of it
I wouldn't want him to wear away too quickly
(am I growing wearing?)
but sometimes I think
how nice it would be
if I were the rock
and he were the waves
smashing and spattering
for a change.

PS. I remembered to put Flurry on my list, neener neener

I am a very angry man these days Bentfeather.

I do believe that I am not long for this Internet place. I want to hurl this freaking machine into Gehenna to an eternal pyre!

You know pyre
Rhymes with fire

I have a rage
Try to guage

Think of the darkest things
What sort of anger it brings

They want to kill my boy
While silly extinct cartoons
Incite me

I can beat anyone at any game
including their own

This is my not so secret

I'll be going soon, but not without note

and a goodbye!
