~The Dragon Flies' Lair IV~

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and I...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Beowulf?
Some of it.
Ended up having to do stuff..
*UGH!!*

Yes, that was pretty long.
But there's alot of Danish and Norse stuff that is long.

Had a guy in my Basic training unit named Henson.
His platoon nickname was "Kermit".
Excellent soldier, a little on the scary side in the field while on patrol, and generally a good guy to have on your flank during a field ex.

Came up with the tagline while composing a short story in my head.
Short story flew away, tagline stayed.
*chuckle*

We gave him the most anticlimactic nickname we could think of.
*chuckle*
And since one of my drillsars kept slaughtering my name, I ended up being called simply "Killer B".
My brother got called "Smoked" since he was always doing pushups.
I'm afraid we weren't very original in our platoon nicknames..
;-)

Some Gave Their All
....some gave their all
They are tall...
Heros all
to them we raise
our grateful songs
we shed our tears
for their young years
and families they left
widow and child
may heavens gates
receive them all
to walk in alabaster halls
and bow before the golden throne
they are his and his alone...
May God Bless Our Nation.

Quote and Moon and Star Report.

Irish author Oliver Goldsmith said,
"A book may be amusing with numerous errors,
or it may be very dull without a single absurdity."

Thank you Flurry.

It's my small way to express my gratitude to those who gave their lives for my continued freedom.

I have written many of those but only have one that I post that I wrote last month, and you've seen it. It was a rant poem. I write a lot of rants. I think I'll change my name to Flurry_the_Rant

Blue sky, so high
Tears where the eagles fly
They tell me that he had to die
And that it's okay to cry
Upward I stare at the glittering sky
Up to where the angels fly
And quietly tell the heroes goodbye

Thanks.
Inspired by how the above graphic loaded, or more correctly, failed to load.
The blue script ended up oon a blue background without stars..
And that popped into my head.

Flying High

"WHILE SHE OUR FLAG IS FLYING HIGH,
OUR FIGHTING FORCES SHALL NEVER DIE,
WE MARCH ALL DAY AND FIGHT ALL NIGHT,
AN END TO THIS WAR IS NOWHERE IN SIGHT
WE FIGHT IN JUNGLES, ON RIVERS AND PLAINS,
WE’LL FIGHT UNTIL WE’RE PROVEN IN VAIN
IT’S KILL OR BE KILLED IN THIS MAN’S WAR
WILL YOU BE READY WHEN UNCLE SAM COMES TO YOUR DOOR?
MAYBE YOU’LL RUN AND HIDE,
OR BURN YOUR DRAFT CARD TO SHOW YOUR PRIDE
YOU FAIL TO REALIZE THAT ACROSS THE HIGH SEAS,
MANY EYES LIE CAST ON THE ACTIONS OF THESE
IF COMMUNIST WIN THE FAR OFF LAND,
YOU KNOW THEY’LL MAKE ANOTHER STAND
WHO KNOWS WHERE OR WHEN,
BUT THEY HAVE SAID ‘WE’LL CONQUER IN THE END’
IT’S UP TO MEN LIKE YOU AND ME,
TO INSURE THAT OUR COUNTRY REMAINS FREE
OUR JOB IS FAR FROM BEING NEW,
BUT LIKE OUR FOREFATHERS WE MUST COME THROUGH
YOU THAT PICKET, CARRY SIGNS AND PARADE,
WE KNOW YOU’RE REALLY JUST AFRAID
DEEP DOWN INSIDE YOU WANT TO SERVE,
BUT YOU LACK ONE THING AND THAT’S THE NERVE
YOU CHANT YOUR RHYMES AND CAUSE INCIDENTS,
YOU’VE EVEN TRIED DEPRAVING OUR PRESIDENT
IT SEEMS ODD THAT MEN IN UNIFORM LIKE US,
RISK OUR LIFE PROTECTING PEOPLE WHO MAKE SUCH A FUSS
WE’RE FAR AWAY FIGHTING THIS WAR
WOULD IT BE DIFFERENT IF IT WERE AT YOUR DOOR?
MAYBE THEN YOU WOULD SEE THE LIGHT,
FORGET YOUR DEMONSTRATIONS AND BEGIN TO FIGHT
AS AN AMERICAN I HAVE MY COUNTRY TO SERVE,
FREEDOM AND LIBERTY I MUST PRESERVE
WE CONTINUE TO STAY HERE AND FIGHT,
OH, DEMONSTRATORS, WE HOPE YOU SLEEP SOUNDLY TONIGHT.

Morning Sam!!

Wonderful, powerful poem this young man has written.
I wonder if he made it home. Sure hope so, so many didn't.

Thank you Sam for your service to our nation.
