Fanatics don't lose their 'edge.' I've yet to meet even one fanatic, who wasn't absolutely dedicated, focused and obsessed with their 'cause.' Otherwise, what you say, I can agree with.

THEN they will a) stand out like sore thumbs b) be incapable of doing anything highly skilled or technical or c) organized in a fashion that represents a real 'threat'.

Zealots, fanatics, et al are still human, just like you and me, and we both lose our edge for those things (skills) we do not keep current on with repeated use (bascially: training).
