For some time, I've been telling anyone who will listen that there are two wars on terror: The overt one we all hear about in the media and the covert battle that is only occasionally brought to our attention.

There was a description of that covert war recently by Samuel Schubert in the Washington Times (www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20031210-014820-7175r.htm) Schubert is an adjunct fellow at the American Foreign Policy Council in Washington.

Schubert wrote, "Over the last two years, the United States has been fighting a losing battle against al-Qaida on the World Wide Web. Once identified, al-Qaida affiliated web sites are quickly hacked or shut down, only to reappear at another web address or on another server. This regeneration allows terrorist documents to be published, and vital messages to be delivered. And as al-Qaida's computer-savvy supporters become more adept, the time between disruption and reappearance is shrinking."

How true that is! After corresponding recently with a self-professed terrorist/al- Qaeda/Taliban supporter in the United Arab Emirates, and observing the material this individual was putting on his Yahoo site, I contacted Yahoo and reported an abuse of service. While Yahoo had this person's group and e- mail suspended quite quickly, he was back on line within 24 hours. All he did was make a slight adjustment to his on line information; adding the number one after the final letter of his last name. Yahoo is STILL sending out this person's radical propaganda.

Here is a sample of what Daleel Almojahid, also known as Salah Aldeen, is writing. After allegedly returning from Afghanistan he wrote, "I look at what's happening and bring my hands up to god and thank him for all the blessing the mojahideen are getting from him. The whole world is fighting a very small army of god the whole world!! but the small army of god is wining ! This is the greatness of god. He has the hand to make things flip upside down. Even if everything seems impossible He just says it's done and it's done!"

The propaganda continued. "The amazing thing about the American military is that a huge amount of their troops are people with no parents. They have no family really back in the US and they are the ones put in the first line of battles, so that when they get killed no one would even care to know what happened to them! Nice tactic! In other words their guinea pigs for the rest of the troops."

In the same missive, Almojahid wrote (sic) "The mojahideen in Afghanistan have given us this month an amazing report of their fighting with pics and pics of downed planes and choppers from the American military; something that the media won't ever put on TV! And the number of death with in the Americans is rising to limits that if the American people will know about will go crazy!"

Almojahid claimed he received news directly from a doctor in a German military hospital who allegedly said there are more than 10,000 hurt and suffering troops there and the environment there is "crazy!"

This doctor also reportedly said, "Most of the troops that came to the hospitals from Baghdad and Afghanistan were in the last few months! alaah akbaar."

The same doctor also allegedly told Almojahid, "The numbers are kept secret as much as possible, but he adds that even the troops are trying to reach any media outlet to tell them that bush was a *** ... and that Iraq is a death camp! Most of them have had burns and parts of their bodies cut. The doctor tells us that he is amazed that till now no media is digging into this, but ... as time passes and the numbers start increasing it will be sure that things will start to get out of control."

After having read some of Almojahid's comments I can picture some of you saying, "Well, who would believe that? It's obvious he's making it up." Maybe you are right. There is a good chance he is making up much of what he relates. With that in mind, I have asked Almojahid to provide me phone numbers and e -mails of people who can independently verify what he is saying. I am awaiting his response.

But that is not the point. Even if you and I do not believe a word of what Almojahid says, scores of testosterone filled radical young Islamic men worldwide will. They will not be reading the news sources that you and I do. They dismiss them as American imperialistic propaganda, and as they sit in cyber cafes in developing countries they will instead choose to believe the writings of people like Almojahid and similar thinking individuals whose writings they avidly devour for hours each day.

Almojahid is a very small representation of a problem that is escalating at an alarming rate. We need to do something about it now while we have the time – before it is too late. If nothing else, the very least you can do is to contact Yahoo (http://abuse.yahoo.com)
and let them know what sort of material they are hosting.

Failure to act could help Almojahid's wish become a nightmarish reality. He wrote, "We know that the light of Islam is going to spread into the world with the light of our swords hand in hand."

THAT must not happen!
