[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

A Saudi graduate student in the U.S. believed to have ties to close associates of Osama bin Laden was indicted yesterday on charges he provided material support to terrorists.
The University of Idaho student, Sami Omar al-Hussayen, 33, created websites to recruit members for terrorist groups and raise money for their activities, prosecutors charge.

Could you explain why
"And game over for EOM!"?
...for us lurkers.
To: oceanview
oceanview: Back in the early part of 2002 I believe it was -- the media was heavily reporting on some of the finds in Afghanistan caves. At least one article stated that a Newsday article was found dated in April of 2001! The media outlet did not specify if this was an Internet printout or not, so we can assume it was a tear sheet. The outlet also did not specify what the article was about. I remember trying to search the Newsday archives and there seemed to be no real big international news except for the usual -- at the time -- fighting in Israel and talks of peace plans. But who knows what the article was about...maybe it was an advertisement or a piece on a more local article topic.
Anyway, the thing to remember is that at that time -- April of 2001 -- Newsday had stopped printing a separate NYC edition called New York Newsday. It was Long Island Newsday really. But the person who brought the Newsday article there or sent it there, could have picked it up in NYC also. Now, Newsday has resumed a city edition I believe.
I always found the article find interesting.

The wind direction would in theory pull the radiation out onto the Island. Also Queens and Brooklyn Boroughs of NYC are on LI.

That guy finaly did respond to EOM. Had this to say:
posts deliberately written on the Yahoo group. Whaddaya want, a medal? Let's see, I post false information about living in NJ, working in NYC, travelling through the Lincoln Tunnel, and you can discern my email from the top of the post and my profile. But you fell right into it. You are a tool. No, not "f"ool but TOOL.
You may be able to scare someone not familiar with the Internet, but you still cannot find me. Nice guess on the AT&T, but oooops, YOU'RE WRONG. There are only a few thousand more ISPs to guess, so it shouldn't take you that long, unless of course you're still counting with sticks and rocks like your mother. Then we'll be waiting for the year 2124 and you'll still have no idea where I am.
You are a joke...What's the name of the birth defect you have, trampled by a horse during the 2nd trimester?
Do you even know who you're talking to? I am Wain El-Hammam... thirteenth brother of the Koh-Ler family. You are a pig and you will never see paradise infidel, you are going to Iblis.
A-Saamu-Alaikum my brother.

There are 400,000 Muslims in Texas alone and Islam is the fastest growing religion in the USA. Since 9/11 there have been more converts to Islam than ever. Eric believes that people are trying to understand Muslims and want to learn about their religion. Yasmine says: America should not be afraid. If it would be better Muslims were the majority. If a child asks me: Who made this leaf? I say, Allah. Allah made everything.

Okay....who is Ice Cube, I'm of the Sinatra generation. I gather he, or it, is a musical group. Hate to age myself here, but I was born during WWII....the very early part of WWII.
I lived in Germany right after the War. 1945 until 1952. I have vivid memories of some horrific things....Dachau, Andau, Bergen-Belsen, Auschwitz. My parents were, and still are, free thinkers. They took me to these places to make sure that I understood what freedom cost. It made quite an impression on the young child I was then. I'll never forget.
Because of my experiences then, and my military dependant life, I take these threats very seriously. We cannot afford to laugh them off. They are real!
