[history]
Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

I put nothing past them and believe they are capable of almost anything.
If you haven't read Yossef Bodansky's book on Bin Laden, check it out. Here is a quote:
"We are at war. And our battle has only just begun. Our first victory will be one tract of land somewhere in the world that is under the complete rule of Islam," declared Abdul-Qadir as-Sufi ad-Darqawi, one of the greatest thinkers and philosophers of contemporary Islamism. "Islam is moving across the earth," he added. "Nothing can stop [its] spreading in Europe and America." pg xv

You're welcome.
I am currently very reassured. Since terrorists were unable to fulfill their pledged attacks, we can feel reassured.
AQ is losing the War on Terror... partly because of organized efforts like this thread.

Dear Liz,
Hugs and prayers that your operation tomorrow is perfect.
The young of today have no idea of what the British lived through. The kids who were sent to the country and even as far as Canada to keep them safe.
The lack of food and the constant threat of attack. With no men to work the farms, food was in short supply there and here, with so much needed to feed the troops.
Food of today scares me, it may not be safe to eat and we don't grow it.
I once read a little book from our gov on the seed supplies in WW2, it was amazing what seeds were scarce, as I recall it was difficult to buy cabbage seeds, tons of them were shipped to Russia.
My suggestion, buy non-hybrid seeds of the basic vegetables, seal them in a cool dry place, you may need them in the next 10 years. Don't buy hybrids, as the seeds from them will not produce if saved. Yes, they will grow 10 years from now, maybe you will loose half of them, but some will grow.
I am a catalog dreamer and have always bought more seeds than I could plant.
A garden here is difficult, the heat and the winds, but have had some luck with the non-hybrids and oriental seeds.
You may find the old style seeds at Walmart and el cheapo type drug stores now and for a couple months, priced at 20 cents or so, per package. I laughed at a garden group who commented that never to buy them, as they are the old varieties. I buy them and have very good luck, better than with the newer varieties.
Walton feed.com did have a link to a Civil War cookbook, take a look, the recipes will be basic, I always intended to go and print it and didn't....yet.
A google search for wartime recipes, gave a few, when I tried it last year.
My 25 year old granddaughter's will be in trouble, she can only cook out of a name brand package.
With God's help, we will survive.

Yes. It does go way, way back, worked it's way into the colleges and universities and now you see what the outcome is today.
What is that expression about these kind of things don't just fall from the sky. Wait, that might not be a good way of putting it under the circumstances...8^\

The president has a new plan for illegal immigrants. Will it work?
Don't miss "The O'Reilly Factor" at 8 and 11 p.m. ET!
President Bush is about to rewrite the rules on illegal immigration by essentially ignoring the rules. Reports out of Washington are that the White House is going to announce a new policy that would allow American jobs to be assigned to illegal immigrants.

Famed desert rally braces against terror threat
01/06/04
Braving the motorcycle-swallowing dunes, the bone-crunching crashes and the occasional camel in the road, drivers of the Paris-Dakar rally faced a new threat Wednesday as the race returned to Africa proper: terrorism.
