>>>>Our costumes were so real, half the people at the party wouldn't talk to us because they thought we were really nerds.

You know you just set yourself up with me? I will tease you about this.

I can take the teasing. Just don't ignore me because I'm a nerd. I learned a life long lesson that night. People are mean to nerds. At least I shaved my arm pits and didn't have lice. Oh well. Can please everyone. LOL

This is the perfect day for Poe! It would be so much fun to get together and read aloud "The Black Cat", "Tell Tale Heart", etc wouldn't it? I'm not really into horror but I do enjoy his spine-tingling phantasms every now and then.

I see ya'll had so much fun!! :) Everyone looks great in their costumes. With your "mommy tax" I'm wondering if you're little Red Riding Hood or the Big Bad Wolf? LOL

16 LBS of candy?!?!?! I'm going into sugar shock just thinking about it. Hehehehe. My parents came to town and we went out for the evening and on the way home we stopped at an Italian coffee shop. They serve gelato which has 2 times as much sugar as American ice cream--the sample bite nearly did me in. I drank cappuccino, which was excellent, while they ate their sweets. Dad is such a sugarholic that he'd eat ice cream 24/7 if Mom would let him. Ya'll would get along well. :)

Happy November 1st

The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.
The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on.

Emily Dickinson

Day After Halloween

Skeletons, spirits and haunts,
Skeletons, spirits and haunts.
It's a Halloween sale:
A nickel a pail
For skeletons, spirits and haunts.

Skeletons, spirits and haunts,
More than most anyone wants.
Will you pay for a shock,
'Cause we're quite overstocked
On skeletons, spirits and haunts.

Shel Silverstein

Thanks Aqua. I enjoy poetry but never take the time to sit and absorb it. This thread is good for my spirits. It's also good for the kids, because it's the only poetry they are getting right now.

THE GHOST OF A FLOWER

"You're what?" asked the common or garden spook
Of a stranger at midnight's hour.
And the shade replied with a graceful glide,
"Why, I'm the ghost of a flower."

"The ghost of a flower?" said the old-time spook;
"That's a brand-new one on me;
I never supposed a flower had a ghost,
Though I've seen the shade of a tree."

-Anonymous

Sorry about posting another Halloween poem but I especially wanted to share the postcard.

Autumn Splendor
By Elise Natalie Brady

There’s a little twinge of sadness
When Summer disappears,
But Autumn brings new gladness
And joys this time of year.

A big Hug and Thank You to you and Carl for keeping that coffee coming on these cold mornings. This first of the week the highs were in the mid 80's. We may not make it to 60 today.
