Republicans Unsure Why Voters Are Mad At Them As They Literally Haven't Done Anything These Past Two Years

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressional Republicans were reportedly struggling to understand why voters seemed to be so angry with them when they did absolutely nothing whatsoever for the last two years.

The nation delivered a stunning rebuke to Republicans in the midterm elections on Tuesday, as voters channeled their discontent into a historic electoral wipeout. In the aftermath, puzzled Republicans huddled together, trying to discern how citizens could be so mad at them when they didn't do anything for two straight years.

"We haven't done anything for them to be mad about. We haven't done anything at all!" mused House Speaker Mike Johnson. "I looked back and checked to see if we did one single, solitary thing. Nope. Nothing! So what could they possibly be so angry about?"

Party leaders reportedly considered whether voters might be upset about grocery prices, housing costs, or federal spending, but dismissed each theory after confirming they hadn't done anything about those issues. "We didn't touch those problems. We stayed as far away from that stuff as possible. So how could they be mad at us?" wondered Senate Majority Leader John Tune. "It's a riddle."

A GOP press release pushed back against claims that the party could have been responsible for public frustration, citing its record amount of nothing that had been accomplished during the most recent sessions of Congress.

At publishing time, Republicans had decided to keep doing nothing in hopes that voters would change their minds and like them again.

Sadly, it’s so true that it could have been written by any news source.

As I posted on another thread. Originally I posted it about Trump's 6 years so far. I'll shorten it to the past 2 years.

Trump and the Republicans have done these things over the past 2 years:

1) Effectively shut the border. Not that Republican voters have been wanting that since the Bush Jr days.

2) Lowered taxes. Including removing the sunset dates. (Congress can raise taxes only by passing a law to raise them, which Trump will veto.)

3) Removed many of the solar and wind subsidies.

4) Brought some manufacturing to the U.S.

5) Got some NATO members to increase their military spending. Not that Republican voters have been wanting that for decades or anything.

6) Removed a lot of fraud.

7) Got rid of USAid.

8) Lowered the federal workforce (not counting military) to the lowest number of workers since the 1960s.

But other than that Trump and the Republicans haven't done a darn thing to earn Republican voters' respect.

Same script.

Doesn’t matter what is done, or what is accomplished - this is what will always be said. Even had multiple shutdowns over funding for border security and someone the other day claimed the Republicans blocked funding border security. It’s unbelievable. Not to mention everything that has been accomplished by the Republican governors and Republican state legislatures - yet the message was still, from the usual crowd “Republicans haven’t done anything. Stay at home. It doesn’t make a difference.”

And now the Left will march on - with more power over more jurisdictions - renewing their effort in destroying our institutions piece by piece to rot our culture from within. And now the gas will be on the accelerator - more than ever.

Correct. These people are stuck on a script. It does not matter what happens - the refrain is the same.

And you aren’t even including what has been done at the state level with governors and legislatures.

But it was effective - some of these races will have been lost from people “staying at home”, believing this false message.

They indeed do all of that. Moreover, everything they did *not* do that the Left has done and will be doing again with all the more vigor also counts.

RINOpukeicans are about as useful as warts on a frog, absolutely sickening lack of action. They’re nothing but paycheck collectors who sit around in a catatonic state as the drool rolls from their open mouths duuuuuuh.

What ticks me off is absolutely NOTHING NOTHING was done about these criminals involved in the coup attempt using a Russion collusion hoax. All the innocent people financially destroyed in legal fees, all the taxpayer money wasted, the nation divided, a sitting POTUS hindered from doing his job 100% and it went on for YEARS. And not even Shifty Schiff is held accountable.

And guess what? Now they are going to do it AGAIN!!

How much of that was done by Trump through executive orders with no help from Congress?

With this election there will be a lot of posts missing their turtles.

Thune, McConnell, Cornyn, et al, the Republican Congress, yeah, nobody is mad at those worthless sacks of feces.

The GOP sat on their pampered butts and paid the price. Trump too, for all the good he did, made promises he failed to keep. But in the end, demographics won out. And the Republican Party is still too scared to say it out loud.

DeSantis, and possibly Rubio, are the only Republicans left worth spit.

Of the eight items on the list, only number 2 and maybe number 3 were legislative. The rest were all Trump, including the opposite of number 2, the tariff increases. I wish that some were backed up by legislation because as soon as there’s a Democrat president they will be undone. For example, USAID was such a gravy train to party insiders and fiscal mischief inside the US that it will come back in some form as soon as possible. It’s not dead; it’s merely resting in wait.

How much of that was done by Trump through executive orders with no help from Congress?

A fair question, particularly in light of the rampant misinformation and misdirection.

From the items in my post #6:

1) The Republicans in Congress with the OBB funded the shut down of the border (wall, 900 miles of river barrier, 10K more ICE and 3K border patrol agents, and ending "catch and release").

2) They lowered taxes with the OBB.

3) They removed wind and solar subsidies with the OBB.

4) The OBB also helped revitalize American manufacturing by (from Brave AI): Permanent 100% Bonus Depreciation, Qualified Production Property (QPP) Deduction, Immediate R&D Expensing, (restores the ability to fully deduct domestic research and development costs in the year incurred, reversing the 2022 mandate to amortize them over five years), and NEPA Permitting Reform.

5) The OBB helped remove fraud with (from Brave AI):
ACA Exchange Integrity: It requires exchanges to verify eligibility before enrollment and mandates annual re-confirmation of coverage, ending automatic re-enrollment that enabled fraudulent sign-ups. It also eliminated the income-based Special Enrollment Period (SEP) for 100–150% of the federal poverty level, which was exploited by brokers for improper enrollment.
Medicaid Accountability: The bill authorizes the federal government to withhold funds from states with high improper payment rates and requires eligibility redeterminations every six months for able-bodied adults, rather than annually. It also mandates quarterly checks of the Death Master File to remove deceased individuals from rolls and creates a centralized system to flag duplicate enrollments across states.
Immigration & Subsidy Limits: It restricts Premium Tax Credits (PTCs) to U.S. citizens and lawful residents, ending federal funding for illegal immigrants, and eliminates caps on the recapture of excess advance PTCs to prevent income manipulation for higher subsidies.
ERC Audit Expansion

IMHO those were significant.

It’s “ what have you done foe me lately?”

They forgot the accomplishments.

Almost as if doing what people want gets you fired.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Heck, England dumped Churchill after the war.

Clarification. England dumped the Tories after the war. Labour actually had a Post-War plan, the Tories had..........Churchill.

But after realizing their mistake, Winnie was back at Number 10, in 1950, but the damage was already done.
