Ron DeSantis Surges in Prediction Markets As 2028 Presidential Contender

Prediction markets made an interesting shift in the aftermath of the 2026 midterm elections.

Websites like Kalshi and Polymarket cut Vice President JD Vance’s chances of securing the Republican presidential nomination while elevating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

This comes the day after Democrats seized control of the House and Senate in a series of upsets nationwide.

Vance still leads the nomination market at 27 percent, but that price is down eight points, according to Kalshi. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sits at 21 percent, down 3 points, and DeSantis is at 19 percent, up 14.6 points. The two-exchange averages tell the same story: Vance at 29 percent, Rubio at about 21 percent and DeSantis at 17 percent, according to DeFi Rate’s nominee tracker, observed Wednesday between 6:38 AM and 10:09 AM ET.

On Polymarket, Vance holds at about 31 percent, Rubio at 19 percent to 21 percent and DeSantis at 11 percent to 16 percent, with DeSantis’s price climbing through the morning, according to PredictMarketCap’s live cross-market tracker.

These numbers represent a significant change. On Sunday, Nov. 1, before a single midterm vote was counted, Vance traded at 35 to 36 cents on Kalshi and 38 to 38.4 cents on Polymarket, Rubio traded at about 20 cents on both exchanges, and DeSantis traded at under five cents on both, according to Scores and Stats.

The repricing started while returns were still coming in. By 11 PM ET on election night, Vance had fallen four points in three hours to 31 percent in Kalshi’s nominee market, while DeSantis jumped nearly 14 points in three hours, from about five percent to 19 percent.

In the days leading up to the election, DeSantis had aimed some sharp criticism at his own party.

I assume you mean Vance?

And I assume you already know RDS has echoed Vance’s accurate and correct remarks.

So who else is there waiting in the wings?

Rick Perry is a big reason the Republicans are finished in Texas.

He won’t have the stench smell of defeat hanging over him from yesterday. Governors-they make better presidents. So he doesn’t have the flash of all those slick democrats that won. He’s the most accomplished of governors so you line up behind him and bet on young Americans seeing through the BS their candidates win with. It’s sad to suggest a new Contract With America for ‘28 because the lost senate seats are gone for 6 years. The 2030 census will depend on state legislative victories in ‘28 and 2030 so they’ll have to go to that well again.

He was a very popular governor here in Texas, and I would like to ensure we have Texas in our column in the next presidential race.

I think Vance is in a difficult spot. What is his message? “I’m for all the good stuff Trump did, none of the bad.” He will be hated as a Trump puppet.

He opened the floodgates to all the Hindus and Muslims who have taken over this state.

I like Tulsi too, because she knows how to attack the Democrats.

Unfortunately we need to find someone to be the next Pinochet, not the next President

Will you look at that, Trump’s ego just ate Vance and Rubio’s chances

DeSantis/Tulsi.

They're "outsiders".

Tulsi left the administration before the Iran War started.

I am not exactly sure how anyone thinks ANY governor can do ANYTHING to stop someone exercising their constitutional right to worship how they choose.

Might as well be DeSantis.

Any one with any association with the disastrous Trump Administration saw their political futures evaporate like a fart in the wind last night.

Most of them will be lucky to stay out of prison.

I have nothing against Rick Perry. I voted for him. I supported him.

I looked it up. He left office in 2015. Just 11 years ago. It seems longer than that.

But a lot happened in 11 years. And now Texas has gone blue.

I can accept Paxton losing. I’m still in shock however that some Hispanic gal from nowhere came and beat Abbott.
