No one could have seen this coming.
Hassan Bennett was arrested in a 2006 shooting where one person was killed and around was wounded. The wounded man accused Bennett of being one of the shooters. Four trials followed. By the fourth trial in 2019, some of the witnesses recanted, blamed the cops, and Bennett became the poster boy for police misconduct. He protested against the police in Philly and became a darling of pro-crime activists.
Hundreds of Philadelphia police officers are facing backlash after they were accused of controversial posts on Facebook. Protesters called for action Friday at a “Rally for Justice.”
Comments and posts ranged from officers wanting to ram people with Barack Obama bumper stickers; others called those in the Black Lives Matter movement “racist pieces of (expletive.)”
At the rally, Hassan Bennett spoke out, saying he was wrongfully convicted in the murder of his friend back in 2006 after he says Philadelphia Police coerced witnesses to testify against him.
Bennett got appointed to the police oversight commission and you’ll never guess what happened next.
Hassan Bennett, 43, faces charges in connection with selling confidential information about criminal cases, which he obtained through his job as a bail navigator at the Defender Association of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office said in a press conference Tuesday afternoon. The DA’s Office accused Bennett of selling confidential information to a defendant in a domestic violence case.
Assistant District Attorney Joe Lanuti alleged Bennett provided that information to Thomas Scott, an inmate who was publicly attempting to intimidate a witness in a domestic attempted murder case.
Lanuti said Scott made a $500 payment to Bennett.
A source also told KYW Newsradio that Bennett nearly lost his job a few years ago for a similar incident.
Only six of its nine seats are filled. Bennett took over as chair when the original chairman quit in 2024.
Bennett was seen as a good choice for the commission because of his own involvement in the criminal justice system. He was tried four times and ultimately convicted of murder in 2008. He served 11 years in prison before being granted a new trial and acquitted in 2019. He represented himself at that trial.
He sued the city for wrongful conviction and reached a $4 million settlement in January 2025.
Imagine how big his settlement will be this time. After this, they’ll have to make him mayor.

Hassan Bennett, 43, sold confidential info about criminal cases, obtained thru his "govt job" as a bail navigator at the Defender Association of Pa....one buyer was a defendant in a domestic violence case.
In the UK, they all would have been fired, arrested, fined and jailed for "Hate Speech" - if the Democrats take back power, they'll be happy to do same in the U.S., and are threatening this
"Recent reports indicate that approximately 30 to 34 people are arrested daily in the UK for online speech offenses, including hate speech and malicious communications...A 2026 report by Big Brother Watch found 62,199 people were arrested for 'communication offences'"
“Bennett was seen as a good choice for the commission because of his own involvement in the criminal justice system.”
Bennett was seen as a good choice for the commission because of his own involvement in CRIME.
Wokeness gone totally haywire.
‘Bennett was seen as a good choice for the commission because of his own “involvement” in the criminal justice system.’
Willie Sutton’s involvement with banks was why he was put in charge of bank security, and Albert Anastasia’s involvement with mob murders was why he was put in charge of investigating mob murders ...
i’m SHOCKED that DA Larry Krasner allowed these kinds of charges to be brought ...
Fox.... Henhouse....
Bennett was seen as a good choice for the commission because of his own involvement in the criminal justice system.
This kind of mentality cannot be fixed. Too many morons are allowed out in the wild.
Soft on crime liberal endangering the public because they feel sorry for criminals
Philly PD gone straight to hell since Danielle Outlaw left. She in NY/NJ Port Authority, now, so they in good hands.
Frank Rizzo weeps.
Exactly
Hassan................Stopped reading right there..................
Urban America has devolved into unlivable places of depravity and decadence. Best to avoid any area that Democrats control or dominate.
Sounds perfectly normal for a BLUE City
