How Government Mandated Vehicle Kill Switches Can End Up Killing You Instead!
18 minutes worth watching. Next year, all vehicles must have kill switches that monitor your behavior and shut off (or prevent starting) if it thinks you're impaired. He details a gruesome injury that happened to him and what he had to do to survive. Long story short, such a feature would have killed him.

So, what happened to him?
Here’s the bottom line from the ChatGPT summary:
“...a vehicle equipped with a biometric monitoring system could automatically disable itself when its driver is experiencing extreme stress, even when that driver is perfectly sober and needs to drive urgently to save a life.”
Uncle Tony’s Garage is a good channel. Haven’t watched him for a while and didn’t see this one but he is informative and entertaining.
I wouldn’t drive a vehicle with a kill switch.
Thanks for this info.
In the early 1970s it was proposed that a built-in sobriety test be installed in every car to prevent drunk driving. Before starting on a trip, the driver would have to move the steering wheel around, and an electronic device would determine whether or not the driver was impaired. If the machine determined that he was, the car would automatically shut off for an hour or so to allow the driver to sober up.
Similar arguments were made against this device—a rush of adrenalin brought on as a badly injured hiker tries to get to a hospital from a remote area or a girl tries to flee in her car when chased by a gang of thugs might trigger the device with deadly consequencces.
Manufacturers would not risk putting kill switches in their cars if they weren’t going to get government immunity from liability.
Correct. And being that ‘the government’ would love to have the ability to disable our personal vehicles at any time to compel certain behavior —or ‘’correct’ bad behavior, you can bet something along these lines will happen.
Who the Hell is ‘the government’ anymore, anyhow? Isn’t it supposed to be us?
The US govt ruined automobiles.
this is the main reason i bought a new 2026 honda accord hybrid sport sedan: no biometric Big Brother with it’s cyborg thumb on the kill switch ...
please define “kill” switch....
...the one that temporarily kills at red lights to save gas. ?
...or the one that enables the manufacturer to disable the car at their discretion.
Kill switches are no longer mandated btw..by Trumpees !
We need to change our laws so that members of congress can be charged with manslaughter when they do crap like this. The list of what can go wrong and lead to death is endless. How about getting stranded in a Blizzard or cold night.
.
Losing power while moving isnt fun in a truck/van. with no vacuum assist, it takes about 150lbs+ applied to the brake pedal to stop. no power steering as well. I can see the authors point...
I’ll cling to my mechanical injected diesel ford till I die. Heck it will still run after an emp blast.
The only thing receiving radio signals in to anything electronic is the radio
While manufacturers are required to install them in their cars, is it required for the car owner to keep the thing in their cars? Can they have a mechanic remove it?
THE MAIN REASON I KEEP THE 1976 1 TON 4 SPEED DUALLY CHEVY 454 I HAVE IS THAT IS HAS NONE OF THESE “”FEATURES””.
SAME FOR THE 1979 BUICK WAGON WITH THE 403 OLDS ENGINE.
COMBINED MILEAGE == OVER 575,000 MILES
REGISTRATION == $39 ON CAR & & PATRIOT PLATE OF $96 ON TRUCK
I’m all for it if it can recognize blue/green haired freaks and fake women with beards.
