It's only fair that 11 years after Leonardo DiCaprio took on a bear in The Revenant, his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood co-star, Brad Pitt, did the same in Heart of the Beast.
The new thriller, which was directed by Suicide Squad filmmaker David Ayer, follows a retired Special Forces veteran who crashes his plane and is stranded in the Alaskan wilderness with his military combat dog Odin (Uber). They have to make a 58-mile trek across the wilderness to safety with minimal supplies and completely on their own.
Heart of the Beast is one of the most thrilling survival movies in recent memory. There is a lot of heart (pun intended), and it's one of Pitt's most tender roles in a while.
This is what the moviegoing experience is all about. The tension in the room is palpable, and Odin has everyone in the palm of his paw.

I know it’s just a movie, however ....
The film sounds like “The Edge” which was made almost thirty years ago with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin.
Many similar plot points and an identical location.

David Ayer also directed Pitt in FURY. His movies usually have overt Christian messages too. Curious to see it.
Loved THE EDGE. Especially since the billionaire played by Hopkins turns out to be the more resourceful and resilient of the trio. Also merciful. Written by David Mamet.
Did you notice in “Fury,” after the climactic battle rife with the imagery of laying down one’s life for his fellow man, the film closes with the camera zooming out from above, literally ascending to heaven, while looking down on the crossroads where the battle was fought, filling the screen with a cross.

Saw it yesterday afternoon with my wife. Darn good movie, on or two spots that stretched the imagination. Other than that great movie.
Brad Pitt already took on a bear— twice, in “Legends of the Fall”.
I posted the spoiler because the producers disclosed that before the movie came out.
The goofs I saw:
Odin couldn’t run that fast on a prosthetic.
His paw pads wouldn’t have lasted more than a couple of days in a rough environment.
Pitt’s clothes dried too quickly after the plane crash and floating down the river.
Wolves don’t bark.
I saw the trailer on YouTube. It looks really good.
