After a Massachusetts jury deadlocked 11 to 1 in favor of finding Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity, some accounts identifying as conservative began posting calls to repeal the constitutional amendment that gives women the right to vote, arguing that female jurors’ sympathy toward Clancy demonstrated why women shouldn’t have a voice in the electoral process. Republican political strategists have since publicly condemned the rhetoric and warned it risks real damage to the party.
What actually happened in the Clancy case that triggered this?
Clancy, 36, was on trial for murdering her three young children, ages 5, 3, and 8 months, at the family’s Duxbury home in January 2023. Her defense argued she was experiencing postpartum psychosis at the time and should not be held criminally responsible.
After roughly 38 hours of deliberation spread across seven days, the jury deadlocked 11 to 1 toward a not guilty by reason of insanity verdict, and Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4 after a Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court justice declined to intervene. Clancy remains held at a state hospital, where she has been since her arrest, and a status hearing is scheduled for September 29 while prosecutors decide whether to pursue a retrial or a plea agreement.
Why did this specific case spark calls about women’s voting rights?
Largely because of who made up the majority on the jury and who showed up to support Clancy publicly. Hundreds of mostly female demonstrators gathered outside the Plymouth courthouse throughout the trial, arguing the case reflected a broader lack of understanding about postpartum depression and psychosis.

You bozos will post any trash.
Seems a tad overblown reaction to what would be an obvious joke.
Is it a joke?
There are people here on Free Republic, who regularly call for repeal of the 19th amendment.
I’ve never heard anyone in the real world talk about this, but in the world of Free Republic, it comes up a lot.
If we don’t repeal the 19th the western world is doomed, sooner or later.
Some people think it's a joke.
Founding Fathers were against democracy and universal sufferage.
We're no longer a Republic.
I’ve got a better idea:
What if we say we let them keep the 19th amendment if we all agree to repeal the 16th?
Yeah Its a joke making fun of women.
It might be sexist but its still a joke and not a serious policy

"Identifying as" -- IOW, DNC false flag slag. We have those acc'ts right here on FR. Weird coincidence.
