Hegseth is stripping the military of talent, money, and morale (Barf)
WhoWhatWhy ^ | 09/09/26 | Lucian K. Truscott IV

Posted on 09/10/2026 1:23:09 PM PDT by where's_the_Outrage?

It starts with the generals and goes straight through political waste and fraud in his ballooned-up budget and ends with a demoralized force of soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines. That will be Pete Hegseth’s legacy when he’s gone, and it will take at least a decade and probably more to repair the damage he has done to our nation’s security.

The New York Times reported last week that Hegseth “has fired or blocked the promotions of more than 80 generals and admirals.” The Times called it a “purge,” and that’s what it is. Ten percent of the military’s high-ranking leadership has been pushed out by Hegseth without cause.

Not one general or admiral who has been fired or refused a promotion has been told why, and none were accused of dereliction of duty or any other offense that would normally cause an officer to be forcibly removed or not promoted.

Hegseth has torn up the careers of senior officers in our military for purely ideological reasons. One brigadier general who was recently removed from a promotion list for the two-star rank of major general discovered he wasn’t promoted because Hegseth wrongly believed that he had fostered a mentorship program for female paratroopers and had led an all-women airborne jump. Both programs had been promoted by the previous commander of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, not the brigadier general whom Hegseth had ordered taken off the promotion list, according to the Times.

Hegseth apparently thought he was getting rid of a “woke” officer and denied a promotion to the wrong man, who was widely considered one of the top combat commanders in the Army.

Truscott attended the United States Military Academy, graduating in 1969. In 1968, Truscott and other cadets challenged the required attendance at chapel services. Later, a court case filed by another cadet along with midshipmen at the United States Naval Academy resulted in a 1972 US Court of Appeals decision (upheld by the Supreme Court) that ended mandatory chapel attendance at all the service academies.[3] He was then assigned to Fort Carson, Colorado.[4] There, he wrote an article about heroin addiction among enlisted soldiers and another about what he felt was an illegal court martial. He was threatened with being sent to Vietnam, so he resigned his commission about thirteen months after graduating, receiving a "general discharge under other than honorable conditions."

Demoralizes??

Good grief, all the services have been meeting their recruiting goals months in advance.

Hegseth is getting rid of the leftwing lunacy & Generals who endorsed it under both Obama & Biden.

Thanks, his history makes sense. I believe Hegseth is retiring generals and admirals to make room for a new cadre of senior officers more intent on warfighting than on their political careers. I don’t buy the story that an identification accident happened and Hegseth did nothing. It is an easy fix IF he really wanted to keep that officer.

During Biden’s Abomination people quit signing up... and democrats talked about starting the draft and maybe drafting women. THAT’S when morale was down... People who were in wanted out - and no one was signing up. This piece is bogus.

"Hegseth is stripping the military of talent, money, and morale"

More accurately:
Hegseth is stripping the military of DEI, bribery, and insidious evil and perversion...

Dozens of Generals and Admirals that were deadwood were removed by Army Chief of Staff General George C Marshall just prior to WW2 or early in WW2.

FDR relieved Admiral Richardson of duty in January 1941 because Richardson protested when the Pacific fleet was moved from San Diego to Pearl Harbor. Richardson was replace by Admiral Kimmel.

Admiral Kimmel and General Short were relieved after Pearl Harbor.

CNO Admiral Stark was removed after Pearl Harbor.

Lt General Kenney removed 5 Generals in 1942 that he considered to be deadwood.

Commander of the Asiatic fleet Admiral Hart was relieved in 1942.

Lt General Lloyd Fredendall was relieved in 1942 after the Kasserine Pass debacle.

Chasing people similar to the Vindmin twins out of the military is to be applauded.

Yep.

Never mentioned by the leftist liars - how many good leaders were drummed out by Zero and Brandon (or Zero under Brandon’s autopen) so they could get in their dog-mask-wearers, trannies, and other disasters?

Putting the phrase “We have too many bosses. We can’t get anything done!” into a web search returns fascinating, though obvious on a basic level to even semi-observant people, results. Truscott is a wordy ignoramus.

(The actual phrase, from Star Trek’s hilarious “A piece of the Action”, is “There’s too many bosses. We can’t get anything done.”)

If Truscott wants to make a valid contribution, how about he quit whining and submit a program for the US to produce a mere double the number of modest cost drones as the Ukies are making.

Lucian K. Truscott IV sounds like a pretentious little pr*ck a la “Niedermeyer” of Animal House fame. I am sure he represents the values of the New York Times well.
