Picking fights with the Canadian politicians is OK with me, but imo, he is alienating the everyday Canadians with dumb stuff like this - they may not understand the ins and outs of trade deals, but this makes it easy for Canadians to say or think ‘trump is being ridiculous about the “Lake America” thing, so he is probably being ridiculous about the trade agreement as well’ - i.e. makes it just to easy to say ‘he is being irrational about everything...so ignore him’....not to mention giving more ammo to the media to paint him as unhinged.
Trump hasn’t won even a tiny fraction of the unnecessary battles he has started...he needs to deliver what he campaigned on - and ‘Lake America’ is not one of them.
