I can believe that the Drake Equation is plausible but it shouldn’t necessarily lead me to believe that something highly unusual seen in the sky is the product of an intelligent extraterrestrial life form. Common sense should tell me that there is no truth to and/or proof of the rumor(s).
Whatever they want, the answer is no.
“But where is everybody?” Enrico Fermi
So take your pick…Drake equation or Fermi paradox.
Neither. Belief in the Fermi bon mot is rooted in rejection out of hand of any and all anomalous sightings, and the Drake estimation is a form of just-so story.
(Drake Equation)
Hate the Drake!
And the Drakette!
Something large and impressive witnessed by thousands was silently hovering and darting around the Hudson Valley/Western CT for several years in the mid-80’s and it wasn’t a handful of twatwaffle CIA types flying around at night in ultralights - this latter of which, witnesses to both, were easily able to identify as twatwaffles in noisy ultralights trying to hold their sloppy formations.
Is there life beyond Planet Earth?
What if we are them and they are just checking up on us to see how the crop is growing.
When they see men being ladies will they pull the plug?
The reason why this phenomena seems to go no where is that there are as many working to prevent further discovery as there are those trying to figure out what the phenomena is. The bottom line is our government doesn’t want us in on the secret because what they know - and they know a helluva lot - is probably the best kept example of a government maintaining control over its people that exists in the world. As the adage goes, ‘Information is Power!’ So, the cat and mouse game continues.
See “The Age of Disclosure” for what we know and who is minding the store
See “Disclosure Day” for what disclosure might look like.
So-called sightings consist of: Misidentifications. Pranks. Hoaxes. Grifters and con artists making a buck off gullible rubes.
I haven’t see any UFOs, as least not from the outside, but I seriously doubt we’re alone in the universe.
But the distances are staggering and I’m not sure we’ll ever know. It seems to me that Einstien’s theory saying it’s impossible to travel faster than light would have to be wrong or incomplete somehow to explore very far. How? I have no clue.
Look up the Alcubierre theory and the subsequent work on it since the late 90s. You don’t necessarily need to travel FTL to get from point A to point B more quickly than a photon can. If the theory is correct.
I still say that they are demons!
likely there will be big physics discoveries within the next year or two,
This is an easy prediction because this year hundreds of long existing major and minor math problems have been solved. Scientists are now talking about math being bulk solved in the next two years or so.
Math provides the tools for physics. So when the solutions for math come—the solutions for physics will soon follow.
There are thing seen in the sky we either don’t recognize or don’t understand.
The chance that any of these are the result of alien intelligence is zip, nil.
I don’t think we are alone but we have very few nearby neighbors and by nearb6 I mean within 100 light years.
Sez you.
