This is an incredible delivery by Voight. The subject is solemn and poignant. I’ve scrubbed forward 1 minute to get right to the meat. Go back if you want his setup. The link goes to YouTube

I saw that video and found other sources to confirm that Benjamin Franklin actually did do that speech. Wonderful!

However, they talked about it and they didn’t even vote on it. There was no money to pay a preacher to lead the prayer. I guess that was back in the day that they thought they needed a preacher to lead a prayer.

Someone also thought that calling for prayer midway in the process would tell the public that the congress was in trouble. Others have posted that Franklin’s call for prayer was enough to motivate the group.

“Though the Convention believed it did not possess the resources to obtain a chaplain and the motion met with adjournment, the rancorous, divisive spirit that had prevailed to that point in the Convention was soon met with a spirit of cooperation which allowed the United States Constitution to be composed.”

That was wonderfully done! Thank you for posting it.

It is a stain on America that we trade with peoples who do not have such constitutional limitations on their governments.

How can we be a beacon that does not ask for more light?

Even more remarkable when you consider how little prayer Franklin did himself in his life.
