That UChicago professor arrested for alleged battery on a cop? It’s Abdul El-Sayed’s sister.

It turns out that a controversial University of Chicago professor arrested last year for alleged felony aggravated battery on a police officer is the sister of Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for a U.S. Senate seat in Michigan.

Eman Abdelhadi, an assistant professor focused on religion, gender, identity, and demography, is El-Sayed’s maternal half-sister, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

“A self-described ‘Queer Muslim’ and ‘community organizer’ who uses the pronouns ‘she/they,’ she has been at the center of far-left protests on campus,” the Beacon reported.

Abdelhadi, a signatory to an open letter pledging “solidarity” with the “Palestinian resistance” shortly after the October 7, 2023 slaughter of over a thousand Israelis by Hamas, she has been the focus of several College Fix reports over the last year.

In October, due to her aggressive actions at an anti-ICE protest, Abdelhadi was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated battery, a felony, and two counts of obstructing the peace, a misdemeanor, according to information from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.

She argued that ICE officers had “rushed at unarmed protesters standing on a patch of grass.”

Last July, while speaking at a socialism conference, she called her employer, the University of Chicago, an “evil … colonial landlord” and a “police force.”

“Why would I organize here? I don’t care about this institution. Like I don’t — like f*** the University of Chicago […] Like, why would I put any of my political energy into this space? And I kind of had a moment of disdain for people who spent a lot of time doing that,” she reportedly said at the time.

For most part universities are a grift on those paying tuition and on the taxpayers. They produce many who are mentally unstable, self-loathing, variously perverted and politically radical. What a corrosive waste in society. Many professors are absolute losers in life...except they grift outrageous salaries ands benefits.

UChicago manages Argonne National Laboratory and co-manages Fermilab through separate contracting entities. Those labs run on DOE appropriations in the range of a billion-plus and several hundred million respectively, and that money is genuinely federal money flowing through a UChicago-affiliated management structure.

Depending on which convention someone is using, "federal money to UChicago" can therefore be quoted anywhere from about $550 million to well over $2 billion, and both figures can be defended. It's worth pinning down which one a given source means.
