It’s the candidates, stupid
Don Surber Substack ^ | 4 August 2026 | Don Surber

Democrat nominees are creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky. They’re all together ooky.

Democrats should be in the driver’s seat this fall. Mid-term elections usually go to the party out of power. The SAVE Act won’t be passed in time to stop fraud and corruption at the polls. The president is unpopular. The war is unpopular. The economy is as slow as Jessica Tarlov. And MAGA is almost as enthusiastic as Detroit Tigers fans.

The problem for Democrats are the openly communist Democrats who primaried the ones who can pass for normal. The crop of Democrat nominees this year look like they should live at 1313 Cemetery Lane with their children, Pugsley and Wednesday. Click, click.

Let’s start with Morticia, who was played by Kamala two years go.

Today, Democrats likely will nominate Francesco Hong today. If elected, she would be the first woman governor of Wisconsin, its first Asian governor, and its first bipolar governor.

She is a restauranteur—or was until her restaurant folded last year.

In a 2023 interview with Meal Magazine, she said, “At 18, I had a mental breakdown. I didn’t actually walk at my high school graduation because I had been hospitalized for a week at a child psychiatric hospital. I just felt like nothing had meaning anymore. It was a numbness that took over, and a pain that I couldn’t describe. I couldn’t feel anymore, and that scared the hell out of me. And I found myself self-harming to feel something.”

“The economy is as slow as Jessica Tarlov. “

I’m not sure that’s true.

There’s several assertions the author makes which are not true.

Until every ballot has a box to check for "none of the candidates on this ballot", we don't have elections but selections of the lesser of two evils put forth by the Uniparty.

Until and unless the SAVE Act is passed and enforced, elections are suspect, especially in blue states.

Democrats are betting on their stage puppets to be a replacement for TDS it’s a great moment in history in their mind.

I just checked: The Addams Family ran as a series for only two years.
Amazing that it’s been so durable.

Much of this is about skimming donor $$. With every new candidate, regardless of merit, donors kick in $$ — which are then skimmed by the DNC.
It is the same phenom as fake Congress hearings on vital issues — no justice intended, just create an event that can be characterized as “Look, we did something!”.

The author’s premise that the Democrats are a bunch of weirdos is absolutely true.

His comment that the economy is slow is nonsense. If anything, it’s “overheating” not too slow. Housing prices are high, jobs are plentiful, and Trump/Bessant’s manipulations have so far kept gas and diesel prices from exploding.

Average Americans are not grousing about the war in Iran either. Very few soldiers have been killed, it’s far away, and no one has met anyone serving there. Certainly the opposite of something like Vietnam. like it or not, Americans are very much used to background news reports of US planes dropping bombs in some far away place.

The fact that the US Senate can not act on fraudulent electoral systems speaks to how corrupt our government is.

Morticia was smoking hot.
Sometimes literally “smoking”.
I love that show. Still watch it on Pluto TV.

And who wouldn’t like smoking cigars with Gomez while crashing trains into each other? And I’m not even a smoker!

Many issues listed. Bottom line, issues will not determine the November results. Who has the better ground game in a swing district will determine the results.

That DSA is kooky on the issues is irrelevant if they have a good ground game.

That Dem Stevens in MI today, or Pro-life, 2A, MAGA in November don’t have a ground game will be the reason they lose.

Morticia was smoking hot.

True, but what I liked about her was that wry smile.

I read that a big problem was the networks were moving to color, and The Addams Family didn't make the transition.

Moticia.
It’s the smile.
Lily would be a PITA, or so it would at first appear.
Carolyn Jones did go through four husbands.
