Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the clerical regime in Tehran and its proxies have committed a range of attacks against Americans. This memorandum provides select documentation of these assaults. While the list is not comprehensive, it demonstrates that Tehran continues to pose a threat to U.S. forces in the Middle East, the American homeland, and Americans residing across the globe.
November 1979-January 1981: Iranian students — with the backing of Tehran — take 66 Americans hostage at the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
April 1983: A suicide car bombing kills 63 people, including 17 Americans, at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. The Iran-backed terrorist group Islamic Jihad, a precursor and early branch of Hezbollah (not to be confused with Palestinian Islamic Jihad), claims responsibility.
October 1983: Operatives of the Iran-backed Hezbollah drive a truck bomb at a Marine compound in Beirut, killing 220 U.S. Marines and 21 other service personnel.
December 1983: Hezbollah operatives drive an explosives-filled dump truck through the gates of the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait City. No Americans are harmed.
March 1984: Terrorists kidnap CIA station chief William Buckley in Beirut, subsequently torturing and ultimately killing him in 1985. Islamic Jihad claims responsibility.

That’s just the stuff we know about. Many others suspected.
For sure...
(Don't worry; I get it. It's very important that we be the victim here.)
None of this was a secret over the decades, yet the current president was elected on assurances that he, unlike his opponent, would not get us into a war in the Middle East.
It doesn’t mention the USS The Sullivans and USS Cole where Iran helped with the shaped charges.
So then, why would Iran be targeting American troops in the 2003-2011 U.S/Iraq War when we were deposing the Sunni dominated Saddam regime and empowering the more Iran-friendly Shiites? The answer is simple. The Iranian regime loves killing Americans to the extent that they’ll target Americans when it doesn’t even make strategic sense for them to do so. And that’s ultimately the reason we backed the Iraqis during the Iran-Iraq War, isn’t it? Or did you forget that once the Iranian regime gained power, the openly called for our destruction and backed up their bellicose rhetoric with actions? (Remember that minor detail known as the Iranian hostage crisis?)
But don’t worry. I get it. It’s very important for you that we be the enemy.
Well, it's important that we start the calendar of US-Iran relations in 1979 because to go back further would reveal that our CIA participated in a coup that overthrew the democratically-elected president of Iran; in our pursuit of being the victim, we would rather people not know this part of the history between the US and Iran.
You cannot be so obtuse as to look at Iranian resentment of the US and to simply scratch your head and say, "But why?"
(The Iranians didn't simply wake up one day and decide to hate us.)
Yup.
Here's a collection of his comments: www.rumble.com
And we are now just taking retribution? And the Democrats are against it?
Thank you f...... Jimmy “the democrat” Carter.
One of those past presidents was Donald J. Trump.
He warned us about neocon globalists who would drag us into war. “Under my leadership, we will turn the page on those foolish, stupid days of never-ending war.”
He didn’t go on to say, “Except for Iran.”
USA was helping Saddam against Iran as soon as Reagan got in there.
Dual use technologies, targetting info, ignoring Saddam using chemical weapons, providing targetting info for chemical weapons.
This was all before the 1983 Beruit Bombing.
USA vs Iran has been a tit for tat since ??? 1953 ?? The Mossadegh Coup ??
How far back do you want to go ?
No condition (rationale) of the past outlives the present as it relates to terrorists.
What’s your answer man? Let them have a nuke? Are you really that simple?
You don’t have to answer that question.
“Let them have a nuke?”
Remember how Clinton was mocked for the meaning of the word “is”?
This administration has no grasp of the word “obliterate.”
But that doesn’t speak to the point that throughout his first term and during his third campaign, President Trump never once indicated that we needed to wage war to eliminate the threat. To the contrary, he said the DEMOCRATS would do it.
