Much chatter has been on teh X lately about the “explosive diarrhea” Cyclospora outbreak.
I, foolishly, made some what I presumed to be, mild and sensible suggestions on teh X only to be subsumed by a tidal wave of hate. Apparently there are NO solutions to this crisis. Everyone is going to die. Or something. That’s the script. Don’t deviate from the script!
So, to recap what I have learned from this most recent episode of daring to challenge the latest non scientific orthodoxy:
The CDC is not doing any contact tracing or epidemiology studies. Which means they are not working to find the source of the contamination. Without determining patient/ground zero, the infection cycle continues.
Local public health departments have walked away from most surveillance, due to budget (“DOGE”) cuts. This was an unwelcome surprise to me.
This is in addition to some disturbing whistle blower accounts of fecal and urine contamination at food and cosmetic processing plants by Somali and other third world low cost labor. I won’t go into specifics. There are enough examples you can pull up yourself with a simple internet search
So far, most positive cases seem to have a common source of bagged lettuce and other greens, imported fresh herbs and berries like raspberries, centered around several major distribution centers.
There are 7,000 reported and confirmed cases so far.

For all the screeching that “nothing” kills Cyclospora, evidence from several non Western universities demonstrates that NaDCC will mitigate (not completely eradicate) the infectivity of Cyclospora parasites and the oocysts. The occysts in particular are sensitive to NaDCC. Using NaDCC to home sterilize produce will reduce the parasite load if it is present; therefore reducing the severity of your symptoms and length of discomfort, if you are infected. It will not eradicate all Cyclospora, true - but it will help - plus it eradicates other common, food borne pathogens."
More at link. Some good advice, I believe.
I’m just trying to manage my ebola according to CDC guidelines. *coughs up blood* Darn it.
“Explosive diarrhea.” Ppfffttt. Like that’s ever killed anyone. /s
If a Mexican craps in a lettuce field, does anyone hear it?
So Mexican food gives you the ‘runs’. Who knew?
This is the only study in existence that shows NaDCC had any effect on this parasite.
Problem is that the dose is 1000ppm and TWO HOURS of dual time.
At this high of ppm it requires full PPE as in face shield, goggles, and respirator to use it and breathe its vapors under a vent hood too, then the produce must be analytically cleaned and rinsed to bring the ppm to under 20 for it not to burn the human esophagus.
Simply put the average person cannot do this without harming themselves or others.
So no your NaDCC is not effective in a way that the consumer could ever use.
Science is science here is the actual hard data not some dude said so in the interwebs.

“”Some good advice, I believe.””
VERY! Thanks. I bought seedless grapes on Saturday and when I was washing them to put in the fridge, I remembered the warning about this so I threw them all out in the front yard for the deer - along with the watermelon rinds I’d cut up...The mama deer had a ball finding them all and chowing down...she has two babies but they weren’t with her.
I don’t buy/use any prepackaged veggies and offended a friend who wanted to give me surplus that she couldn’t use. I told her they get recalled all the time and she said, “that’s only at Costco - these are from Sam’s”, like it would make a difference. She said, “I’ll just take them home and throw them out” and I said, “just throw them out here - the critters will eat them.”
The expansion of British Empire did more for civilization than we can imagine.
But, to think that in 2026, there are human beings on this earth who lack fundamental habits of hygiene blows my mind.
It’s disgusting!
I can’t think of a thing about so-called “multi-culturalism” that appeals to me!
Ivermectin may be a better alternative as it kills parasites.
Sure. Believe the CDC. They’re safe and effective.
Unless the poo-er themself explodes, it's not fatal to the poo-er. However, people down-range who are hit by the explosive ejecta may wish they were dead.
"Hey Honey, could you take a peek at my butthole? It doesn't feel good."
"Sure, let's see here..."
BOOM!!!!
"OMG Honey I'm so sorry, are you okay? Honey?"
Just stop eating at TacoBell
He spit out his tooth pick and said “SSSSSSHHHHHH&&&&&&%%%%%!”
