The Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge in Alamo (Texas) announced that (Border Wall) construction on the levee will begin next week...
...Activists have been fighting to protect the refuge from a border wall since President Donald Trump’s first term in office. At the time, activists were able to successfully convince members of Congress to exempt Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, along with the National Butterfly Center, La Lomita, and Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park from border wall construction...
...(but now) there’s a $1.14 billion contract received by Spencer Construction to wall off Santa Ana and La Lomita and the National Butterfly Center and Bentsen State Park and the Salineño Wildlife Preserve in Starr County and a couple of areas near La Grulla.

Border Wall construction is on a tear.
A butterfly can fly over or through the wall. What is the problem?
If the econ loonies had their way all new development anywhere in the u.s. would have to cease, nature should be rid of man; but the reality is over the matter of the border wall, nature will recover; she is a hell of a lot more resilient than the eco loonies giver her credit for.
I wish it were already done.
So can birds; but other animals can’t.
It’s not just a butterfly refuge.

Border Wall construction is on a tear.
Trump administration started deploying 500 miles of Big
buoys in the middle of the Rio Grande, the dividing border
line with Mexico, financed by 2025’s spending bill. Locals
aren’t happy considering that illegal border crossings are
at a 50-year low.

Construction of border wall cannot take place any closer to the river, precisely because of flooding risks, and treaty limitations on construction that could divert floodwaters.
“
Yep they wade the Rio Grande with out any problem Not deep.
They also have medal walls running along the USA border side of the river.
These appear to be better than a lot of those placed in the past.
Critters are pretty resourceful. I doubt The Wall is going to interfere with them very much.
I was just commenting as to why some people are concerned.
“Trump administration started deploying 500 miles of Big

The Waterborne Barrier serves many purposes, to improve Border Patrol’s control over the border.
No boats can cross, so that really slows down crossers, while they are in the open, under observation.
The Waterborne Barrier is not just strung out there and left unattended - it is part of Smart Wall System, that includes multiple types of sensors (alarm systems) and powerful day/night observation, all monitored by watch officers 24x7 in command centers, augmented by Artificial Intelligence software.
Smart Wall System also assures rapid response, with all weather patrol road and basing for Border Patrol speedboats.
Additionally, where it is operationally beneficial (like higher traffic areas), the Waterborne Barrier is just the first layer of barrier, with additional bollard barrier on land.
The whole system is designed to ensure reliable detection and effective intercept at every point along the border.

= = =
And after the wall is up, the child-trafficing, dope-smuggling, Islam and Chinese-invading, etc. will be mostly gone, and those butterflys can exist, non-molested.
See, the wall is an enviromnental enhancement!
“Critters are pretty resourceful. I doubt The Wall is going to interfere with them very much.”
That is pretty much the bottom line. The area has been vulnerable to seasonal flooding for many millennia, and the fittest have adapted and survived there.
Even in the worst hurricane flooding, there will always be the Mexican shore of the river as a landing option.
This is not some prehistoric IMPORTANT refuge.
And they do charge admission. It's called Tourist Trap. Wonder how much they make every year and if they get any money from the government....and how much.
DEMS NOT AWARE BUTTERFLIES CAN FLY???
The buoys work. It went to the Courts and they are allowed.
Agree....considering that it’s a private, man made refuge that charges admission. They also get private donations...would like to see that list...and wonder what their profits are.

Immigration Fact Sheet: Border Wall with Mexico
The border between the United States and Mexico totals 1,989 miles. Currently, border walls of different types of fences span about 670 miles, which cost over $2.4 billion to construct. The construction was approved and funded through the Secure Fence Act of 2006. Most of this fence was built between 2006 and 2009, but Congress failed to allocate additional funding.
Facts You Should Know
Construction costs to expand the current border wall to cover the entire border with Mexico is estimated to be $25 billion.
Every year, no fewer than 350 million people cross our border with Mexico—legally! There are 35 border cities, with 45 crossing points and 330 ports of entry, not to mention that more than 12 million people reside along the border.
The number of unauthorized Mexican immigrants living in the United States has decreased by 12.5% since 2009.
In 2015, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reportedly had 273 Remote Video Surveillance Systems with day and night cameras deployed on the Southwest Border. In addition, the agency relies on nearly 12,000 underground sensors 40 Mobile Surveillance Systems and 178 mobile video surveillance systems which are truck-mounted infrared cameras and radar.
CBP also currently operates over 100 aircraft and 8 Predator B unmanned aerial drones providing surveillance coverage of the Southwest border across Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas along with 84 marine vessels.

I meant to include you on the above post
but messed up. Take care.
The Dems planted these illegals in "designated" districts and because of the 1820 census, the Dems were able to pick up what I have seen estimated as 20 seats in the House. Don't know the effect on the Senate.
