*First Time Hearing BOSTON* 🎵 More Than A Feeling Reaction
YouTube ^ | 2022 | Brad & Lex

Posted on 06/13/2026 6:45:21 AM PDT by Bikkuri

Unusual, but doing 2 this week... I felt I needed an American icon group (and I thought that I may forget to post it next time).

Once again, Brad and Lex listening to a song generation before them (I think first time for them to hear Boston).

Played to death in rfe Boston radio market from September 1976 through the next couple of years. Never understood their level of popularity.

I’m not generally a Boston fan, but this song is superb. I believe this album was the first ever produced and mixed for FM airwaves. It shows — because it may be the best “radio song” ever released.

The band’s greatest asset turned out to be a bit of a liability in the business side of music. Founder and guitarist Tom Scholz was an MIT graduate (BS and MS in electrical engineering) who was clearly an OCD-type perfectionist. Legend has it that it took him five years to get the tracks for this album arranged and recorded to his satisfaction.

"Never understood their level of popularity."

Their unique guitar style.
No matter what song, you could hear it.

My favorite has always been their song, “Hollyann,” from their Third Stage album.

” ...this song is superb.”

Agree wholeheartedly. In the past couple of weeks, I’ve been learning the intro on 6 string and 12 string acoustic guitars. I play it a few times, lose myself, close my eyes and slip away.

Took me about a decade to realize that all of their covers had an electric guitar from one angle to another.

A bit O/T, but I took my then 18YO son with me to see Eric Clapton in concert in Fort Worth. He went, albeit grudgingly...lol.

He was greatly surprised at the number of songs he recognized without knowing it was all part of Clapton's catalog.

It was a great concert, his warm up act was Jimmie Vaughan. They both killed it. As icing on the cake, my son never knew that Jimmie is Stevie Ray's brother.

Was just listening to a ‘kid’s’ iphone music tonight, and he started playing a Black Sabbath song... (he is a kid from a friend.. about 22yo)

I asked who the group was, and he said, of course, Ozzy.. I “leared” him (intentional misspell) that it was before “Ozzy was ‘born’ (as a solo artist)... It was Black Sabbath.

(WAS impressed that he at least knew Ozzy though ;^))

HATE Boston music with a passion. Got sick of them really fast when the assholes in our dorm would come back from drinking and crank their crap at two in the morning. A reviewer at the time said Boston sounded like a bunch of chipmunks dodging laser beams and he was spot on.

Made my 38 year old daughter listen to Inna Gadda Devida for her first time this last week. I think she has it on repeat now.

I remember this being over played EVERYWHERE when it was released.

Still, a great song - and completely new and different from anything else being played at that time.

Funny (in a good way) to see subsequent generations listening to Boston or Fleetwood Mac - as if those bands and songs haven’t been around for 50 years.

Uh, they're obviously colossal interstellar ships saving cities from the destruction of Earth, as depicted on the first album cover. I would assume others, like "Houston" and "Schenectady" would be reaching out across the galaxy.

I’ve been watching some of these videos, I think it’s great that music from previous generations were great. this modern stuff is pure garbage.
