I'm certain that it has been highlighted before, but properly managing rogue judges needs to be an immediate issue to be dealt with by (an America First) Congress.

Federal court judges are appointed for life as long as they demonstrate “good behavior.”
There are some Federal appointees (bankruptcy and magistrates) that have retirement ages, but not your run-of-the-mill District or Appellate Judges.
Not sure what Dershowitz is referencing.

“Trump can appoint himself as a supreme court judge.”
That sounds good.
I also think he could make a good secretary of state.

lets be honest here. Trump is pretty old and will be lucky to even finish this term in my opinion.

I’m all in favor of Trump making himself a SC justice. I just worry that the Dems, when they regain power, will try to destroy him no matter where he is. They’d just impeach him as a Justice if he were there.

Certainly, a Trump appointment of himself to the Supreme Court would be confirmed by the senate unanimously.

In the U.K. before the Act of Settlement, that judges served for a term of the sovereign who had appointed them while on good behavior. Their terms ended on the death of monarch who appointed them if the successor didn't want to renew their commission. King George III was the first British monarch to not remove any judges upon ascending to the throne, which had been considered a royal prerogative. They also could be removed from office if indicted for a crime, or by writ of scire facias, which was less than impeachment, but the legislature could also impeach them. The Act of Settlement also created a method of removing a judge if both houses of parliament concurred and addressed the request to the monarch.
