James Talarico [TX Senate Candidate] Delivers Sermon Against Christian Nationalism
YouTube ^ | 10/22/2023 | James Talarico

The following are transcribed highlights of a sermon given by Texas US Senate candidate James Talarico at the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Austin, TX on 10/22/2023:

There is a cancer on our religion. Until we confess the sin that is Christian Nationalism and exercise it from our churches, our religion can do a lot more damage than a six-pack of Lone Star. There is nothing Christian about Christian Nationalism. It is the worship of power, social power, economic power, political power in the name of Christ, economic power, political power in the name of Christ.

They've turned this humble rabbi [Jesus] into a gun-toting, gay-bashing, science-denying, money-loving, fear-mongering fascist, and it is incumbent upon all Christians to confront it and denounce it

Two years ago, Christian Nationalists stormed the U.S. Capitol, killing police officers while carrying crosses and signs reading, Jesus Saves.

Last year, Christian Nationalists on the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, allowing states like ours to outlaw abortion, even in cases of rape and incest.

Two Christian Nationalist billionaires are trying to replace public schools in Texas with private Christian schooling.

The Bible doesn't mention abortion or gay marriage, but it goes on and on about forgiving debt, liberating the poor, and healing the sick Look around us.

If this was truly a Christian nation, we would forgive student debt. If this was truly a Christian nation, we would guarantee health care to every single person. If this was truly a Christian nation, we would love all of our LGBTQ neighbors. If this was truly a Christian nation, we would make sure every child in this state and in this country was housed, fed, clothed, educated, and insured. If this was truly a Christian nation, know the table of fellowship is open to everybody, including our Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, and atheist neighbors.,

The closest thing we have to the kingdom of heaven is a multiracial, multicultural democracy where power is truly shared among all people

God loves diversity. God loves variety. Just look around this big, beautiful planet of ours. Do we really think God would make all these beautiful people with all their beautiful traditions for no reason at all? There are so many pathways to the sacred.

God is not a being. God is being itself. God is love. And that's why Jesus is against anything that gets in the way of that love between neighbors, including religion.

Christian nationalists want to control what we read, who we marry, where we travel, when we have children. They want to control our minds and our bodies. Oh, ye of little faith.

The great faith traditions of the world have so much to offer us in this time of global crisis. Hinduism's ahimsa provides an alternative to the logic of violence. Buddhist meditation provides an alternative to the abuse of our attention. Judaism's Sabbath provides an alternative to the demands of capitalism. And in a world where everything can be bought and sold, including the earth itself, Native American traditions provide an alternative to ecological extraction.

(The following is a transcription of the introduction to his sermon. I put it last as it was less important but significant to further demonstrate his heresy:)

Reasons beer is better than religion. Number one, when you have beer, you don't knock on people's doors trying to give it away .Number two, there are laws against forcing beer on minors who can't think for themselves. Number three, nobody's ever been burned at the stake because of their favorite brand of beer. Number four, you don't have to wait more than 2,000 years for a second beer. And last, if you've devoted your life to beer, there are groups to help you

He is a collectivist running under the cloak of Christianity through heretical misinterpretation and misapplication of scripture. He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary. His "theology" is blasphemy.

Although it is easy to think that Texans would never elect such a person, we must not become complacent. Democrats are going to go all out to defeat Paxton. A Talafreako win would be a disaster.

He is one of the many anti-Christs of which the New Testament has warned us.

In August of 2009 the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) established a "Formula of Agreement" with several Reformed Denominations, including PCUSA

Therefore:

Lutheran (EL C S*A) Ping!

* as of August 19, AD 2009, a liberal protestant SECT, not part of the holy, catholic and apostolic CHURCH.

Be rooted in Christ!

The August 19 date refers solely to the adoption of the gaysbian agenda, NOT to the “Formula Agreement" (but it should, for all the apostacy it has fomented)

Well, Christian nationalists probably deliver sermons against him, too. We’ll see who wins.

The words coming out of his mouth are the devil himself speaking. What a complete lie about homosexuality and abortion. He is the very essence of evil.

I grew up in a Buddhist society!!! He knows NOTHING about the end result of a people following Buddhism. GO to Thailand and live there for several years. There is NO defense for Buddhism. They are involved in every kind of sexual perversion you can imagine.

Some of the moms initiate their sons into sexual intercourse and that is the tip of the iceberg. Their present king has MANY mistresses and is a complete playboy disregarding proper rule allowing the nation to fall apart. How in God's name can one defend THAT? Oh man...Talarico makes me sick to my stomach.

Jesus said to obey Roman conqueror laws, love the pagan enemy occupiers, turn your cheek if they strike you on one cheek, go with the Roman enemy two miles if they make you go one mile.
Jesus said people who were born of the Holy Spirit were children of God. 90% of the Roman Empire were slaves. Romans sold widows and orphans into sex slavery.
Bible said Jesus cast many demons out of a prostitute.
Jesus did not hate the rich, but required his followers to give up their previous lives and possessions, take vows of poverty . He cared about the soul that follows you into death not physical possessions or social Justice.
Jesus didn’t seem so upset by the death penalty for thieves, but cared about their souls and repenting their crimes….not excusing them.

5/18/2026: Virtueonline.com - ""Christian Nationalism: A Christian Guide to Loyalty, Idolatry, and Priority

... The first 150 years of colonial life can indeed be read as a series of experiments in the Christian nationalist approach. In Jamestown, failure to observe the Sabbath three times was punishable by death. In Massachusetts, Puritan leader John Cotton explained the logic plainly: "Theocracy, or to make the Lord God our governor, is the best form of government in a Christian commonwealth." But this theocratic vision was soundly rejected by the Founding Fathers — and the driving force behind that rejection was 18th-century evangelicals, the very ancestors of today's Christian nationalist movement.

Christian nationalists are right about one thing — and many secularists wrong: most of the Founders believed religion was profoundly important. "Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people," John Adams wrote. "It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." George Washington agreed: "Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can exist apart from religious principle."

But Christian nationalists take this truism and leap to what Waldman calls the greatest non sequitur in American political history — that the founders therefore wanted the state to promote Christianity. On the contrary: the evangelicals and their Enlightenment allies believed the best way to encourage Christianity was to get government out of it entirely. Madison, were he alive today, would likely say the same ...

I have to disagree. I don’t think that Democrats would expend the resources to try to unseat Cornyn, a long-term entrenched incumbent. Democrats believe they have a chance to defeat Paxton by exploiting his considerable baggage. I read somewhere that Talarico has $40 million in campaign funds available whereas Paxton only has $7 million. Of course this will change.

The original charter to the Colony of Georgia
was administered by James Oglethorpe.
Slavery and alcohol were strictly prohibited.

Back in England the balance sheets of productivity
were not favorable compared to the other colonies.

Oglethorpe was forced to step aside,
in order for the colony to compete.

I know zilch about this guy except he’s apparently a Texan.
Is he in office now? Or just trying? A lot to take in when trying to understand and define him. First impression: He looks good, much better than he sounds.

Would like to know where his personal center is.
What’s it all about, Jimbo?

Here is the latest quote from Steve Bannon:
“I just don’t know if Texas is ready to vote in the United States Senate, a guy that looks like he plays with dolls. I just don’t think that’s going to happen,” Bannon said during a Wednesday episode of his “Bannon’s War Room” podcast, referring to Talarico.
Hahahahahahhaha!
