A neo-Nazi who may have interacted with would-be Donald Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks online revealed himself to be Bjorn Leif Hjelmerud of Norway, The Daily Mail reported.
Hjelmerud admitted to being in contact with a “Tom Crooks” YouTube account believed by some to be the 2024 Butler, Pennsylvania, shooter who nearly took the president’s life, the outlet reported citing a text exchange with Hjelmerud.
A member of the white supremacist Nordic Resistance Movement, a U.S.-designated terrorist group, Hjelmerud egged on violent comments from “Tom Crooks” about overthrowing the government in a 2020 YouTube comments section.
“If a gun and a badge is all that is needed, then authority obviously comes from the barrel of a gun,” Hjelmerud told the account while under the username “Willy_Tepes,” The Daily Mail reported.
“We have more guns than they do … There is no way we can avoid a war at this point, so you better just get used to the idea.”
Hjelmerud said he did not talk to “Tom Crooks” on any other online platform in comments to the outlet.

Tucker Carlson’s latest exposé is sending shockwaves through MAGA circles after the former Fox News host suggested that Trump’s failed assassin, Thomas Crooks, may be connected to a foreign terror group.
Carlson’s investigative team released a 34-minute video diving into the online history of Crooks, the 20-year-old would-be assassin who shot Donald Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania in July 2024. Crooks’ bullet came within less than an inch of penetrating Trump’s skull.
More than a year after the assassination attempt, the FBI has yet to release a clear motive for why Crooks tried to shoot Trump or whether he acted alone or in coordination with others.
Carlson’s uncovered YouTube comments allegedly posted by Crooks from 2019-2020, revealing the shooter’s long digital history of making calls for assassinations and political violence. Crooks’ YouTube comments indicate he radically shifted his ideology from pro-Trump towards the far left.
During the final phase in 2020 of Crook’s YouTube commenting, the shooter began interacting with a suspicious user ‘Willy_Tepes’ who appeared to encourage Crooks to commit political violence.
He wrote to Crooks on August 4, 2020, ‘If a gun and a badge is all that is needed, then authority obviously comes from the barrel of a gun. We have more guns than they do ;)’

Carlson claims that Tepes’s name is listed on a foreign Antifa website connecting him to the Nordic Resistance Movement - a neo-Nazi group based in Scandinavia which has been designated a terrorist organization by the State Department.

The United States remains deeply concerned about the racially or ethnically motivated violent extremist (REMVE) threat worldwide and is committed to countering the transnational components of violent white supremacy.
Today, the Department of State is designating Nordic Resistance Movement (NRM) as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) pursuant to Executive Order (E.O.) 13224, as amended.
NRM is the largest neo-Nazi group in Sweden, with branches in Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and also Finland, where it has been banned since 2020. NRM’s violent activity is based on its openly racist, anti-immigrant, antisemitic, anti-LGBTQI+ platform. The group’s members and leaders have carried out violent attacks against political opponents, protestors, journalists, and other perceived adversaries. NRM members have also taken steps to collect and prepare weapons and explosive materials, including on behalf of the group and in furtherance of its goals. In addition, NRM has organized training in violent tactics, including hand-to-hand combat and knife fighting.
Formed in 1997, the group was originally known as the Swedish Resistance movement but rebranded itself as NRM in 2016 under its former leader, Simon Lindberg. According to NRM, the group’s goal is to replace the Nordic democracies with a “united ethnic Nordic nation.”
Additionally, the Department of State is designating three of NRM’s leaders as SDGTs pursuant to E.O. 13224, as amended.
· Tor Fredrik Vejdeland, also known as Fredrik Vejdeland, is the leader of NRM. Vejdeland is one of the longest-serving members of NRM and has been part of the group’s national leadership for 20 years. Vejdeland is the leader of NRM’s national council, the group’s governing body.
Pär Öberg is a member of NRM’s national council and serves as head of the group’s parliamentary branch.
Leif Robert Eklund, also known as Robert Eklund, is a member of NRM’s national council and the coordinator of the various NRM divisions within Sweden.
As a result of our actions, all property and interests in property of those designated today that are subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked, and U.S. persons (entities and individuals) are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them. Terrorist designations expose and isolate entities and individuals and prevent them from exploiting the U.S. financial system. Moreover, designations can assist the law enforcement activities of U.S. agencies and other relevant enforcement entities and governments.
Today’s actions are being taken pursuant to Executive Order 13224, as amended, which targets terrorists, terrorist organizations, leaders and officials of terrorist groups, and those providing support to terrorists or acts of terrorism. These designations are part of a broader U.S. government effort to address the transnational dimensions of the threat posed by REMVE actors and reflect the Biden-Harris Administration’s continued commitment to countering domestic terrorism (DT), which includes REMVE. In June 2021, the Administration released the first-ever National Strategy for Countering Domestic Terrorism. That Strategy highlighted U.S. Government efforts to assess whether additional foreign entities linked to domestic terrorism could, under the relevant criteria, be designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations or SDGTs; such designations bars U.S. persons from supporting those entities or receiving training from them.
NRM is being designated for having committed or attempted to commit, posing a significant risk of committing, or having participated in training to commit acts of terrorism that threaten the security of United States nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States. Tor Fredrik Vejdeland, Pär Öberg, and Leif Robert Eklund are being designated for being leaders of NRM.

The SPLC has been a controller of white separatist groups and private militias. However, there have been other players, such as the FBI, which manipulated a Michigan militia group to try to kidnap Governor Whitmer. The net effect of the various Federal and NGO actions to set up anti-government rightist groups has been to scare away potential recruits. As soon as the group called Patriot Front appeared on the scene, the general consensus is that they are a Federal government or NGO front. Maybe they are not, but they looked like a Hollywood version of an American fascist group, down to the uniforms.
With the vast reach of the Internet and social media, including the dark web, it appears that provocateurs are fishing for unstable young people. Additionally, despite over a year of the Trump Administration, the leftist networks like Antifa and BLM remain basically untouched. This is how the alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk was recruited.

This national socialist group isn’t exactly “white supremacist,” they actually believe in Nordic superiority over other European whites as well. They favor Russia in the conflict in Ukraine, and they generally rely on Telegraph. Virulently antisemitic.
During the late 60 and early 70s there were a number of cases of the FBI informant and the FBI instigating a group to violence, or trying to.
I remember one where the FBI plant took over the peaceful group as leader and tried to turn them while also bringing in explosives and weapons (govt. supplied), he was like a one man operation determined to turn the non-willing group into a big federal case.

Alternatively, members of foreign far-right organizations have traveled to meet and network with NRM. Members of the American white nationalist organization Patriot Front met with members of NRM while visiting Sweden.27 The meeting took place during a trip by Patriot Front members across Europe to meet various other far-right organizations.
NRM’s more direct connections to the international far-right encompass a complicated landscape, as unlike some other prominent white nationalist organizations, NRM specifically endorses Russia’s war against Ukraine, viewing the conflict as a product of NATO’s alleged expansionist aims, a product of Jewish influence on global politics. The connections to Russia extend beyond propaganda support for the war: NRM has hosted the leadership of the Russian Imperial Movement (RIM) in Sweden,28 a conglomerate of nationalist, imperial, and far-right groups that offer members military training at a facility in St. Petersburg. Two of the three men charged with the bombings of refugee centers and leftist bookstores in Sweden near the end of the 2010s received training from RIM.29Reported to have learned to build explosives through RIM’s “Partisan” course, the men were former members of NRM.30 RIM was designated a terrorist group by the United States in 2020.31
RIM and NRM connections go back to at least 2012 when RIM’s founder and leader, Stanislav Anatolyevich Vorobyev, awarded two NRM writers for their “objective and correct description” of the politics of Russia in Swedish media.32 Vorobyev also spoke in Sweden during a 2015 summit organized by NRM.33 Though the exact amount has been an issue of some contention, Vorobyev claimed to have donated money to NRM and thanked the organization during a speech for its part in the war against Ukraine’s “Jewish oligarchs.”34 NRM also was present during the “International Conservative Forum,” a far-right conference in St. Petersburg that was organized by the Russian Rodina (Motherland) party.35 This trip included a visit to a RIM facility in the same city.36 Since the announcement of NRM’s designation, it now also shares a place with RIM as the only two white nationalist organizations on the State Department’s terror registry.
An NRM member, Ronny Bårdsen, also lived with Yan Igorevich Petrovskiy in Norway until his arrest by Norwegian authorities in 2016.37Petrovskiy is a senior member of the Russian paramilitary organization Rusich.38 A Soviet national at birth, Petrovskiy grew up in Norway. He was eventually deported from the country after Oslo ruled that he was a national security threat. He was also designated by the U.S. Treasury in 2022 for his role in aiding the Russian war in Ukraine.39
While one of its core beliefs is that the Nordic race in particular is superior to all others, NRM does hold rallies in support of its ideological allies in other countries. …
