A shocking new poll from AtlasIntel suggests that there may be a new favorite to win the Republican Party’s presidential nomination in 2028.
According to the survey, which was conducted between May 4-7 and included a sample size of 2,069 American adults, a plurality (45.4%) of Republican respondents now identify Secretary of State Marco Rubio as their preferred choice to carry the GOP’s banner two years from now.
Vice President JD Vance, who has long held the pole position in the race, finished in second with 29.6%, followed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) at 11.2%.

OK. Fine. That’s settled. Can we focus on the ‘26 midterms now?
Rubio could be both POTUS and VP.....
Not surprised but let’s see.
I’m OK with either, not a super JD Vance fan but he’s gaining a lot of experience as VP.
Can either be a Trump? He’s one of a kind.
Only because Rubios memes are more popular than Vance’
I’m not making any decisions until I hear their policy statements in 2 years.
Vance isn't ready. Trump's son chose him and while his background is interesting...we are no longer looking for another poor boy named Lincoln.
I think even Trump would agree...Rubio is in the right place at the right time.
I'm not sure which niche would suit Vance best.
That's why they are giving him so much love now, to lull him into bullseye position.
Think McCain and Romney
This is not surprising. Marco has been everywhere and accomplished a lot.
I like JD but tell me ONE thing that he’s actually accomplished.
Yea let’s see 2000 people. Not voters, not republicans… just people
Trump will be in the ear of either of them.
I'm favoring Vance at this point, but I'd gladly vote for either of them versus any Democrat.
He has an excuse—he can focus on his family. Then he can make a comeback.
Nixon and Biden both served as VPOTUS but they did not become POTUS until later.
I agree...Maybe “something” to the President?? for eight years??
JD would make a great Sec of State!
Is media picking our candidates again?
But let's see what's up with the Senate??
Rubio is not capable to be President.
I remain cautious about VP Vance, would like to support him but he sometimes seems wishywashy or lacking in commitment? I am open to ideas, correction.
Rubio I like a whole lot. I’d support him for almost any job he wanted (except POTUS, ineligible).
I’ve made mistakes picking candidates before...more than once!!!... but it would be well if we can identify a couple more possibilities for POTUS, imho
What does that mean?
