>The brief ceasefire announced on April 8 serves distinct strategic purposes. While Iran utilizes this window to recover from initial kinetic impacts, the U.S. decision to pause is a calculated combination of military, economic, and political factors...

The President will need to somehow end this thing in the next two weeks. I fear Iran will delay that long—because they are waiting for democrats tom come to their aid at the end of the 60 day period.

Yes, it will only go on until the knuckleheads tick Trump off, which is likely going to happen at any moment.

It was a strategic pause and I bet we also saw the reason for their stall tactic, awaiting weapons from China.

Now China is gonna lose its oil.

The blockade is brilliant. China will move to end this quickly. Ironically, the Russians have to be pleased.

“The blockade is brilliant. China will move to end this quickly.”

Iran’s craziness and IRGC extortion already make for a pretty effective blockade.

With America’s military blockade of Hormuz time is on our side.

Yes, I have said this from the beginning. Iran is playing the the internnational debate game to force an end via public opinion, and allow the problem to become strong once again. Time to finish this evbil regime right now. Because the otherside will never broker with honest intentions, and thus the charade must end.

Hopefully this strategic pause will be broken by a bunch of thermo-baric explosives.

Not specific to you, but where did the attitude that wars can only last 6-8 weeks come from? How about we fight until we achieve all of our objectives?

Well, not in the mood for an argument, tired of that here. But in an academic, sterile environment, you are 100% correct. There should be no time limit. Successfully achieving your military objectives should have no time constraints.

However, in the real world, wars never take place in a vacuum, there are always political goals and other issues that come into play.

There are two big ones here. Number one, the WAR POWERS ACT, which I alluded to in my first post. Number two, the upcoming midterms.

By shutting down Iran’s ability to ship and sell oil, he has flipped the script and rendered even these reasoned analyses out of date. Once again Trump thinks outside the box and defies conventional wisdom.
