Universities plan ‘private,’ ‘intimate’ grad ceremonies for illegal alien students with restricted access

This spring, universities are hosting “UndocuGraduation” ceremonies for illegal alien students that are closed to the public and separate from traditional commencement ceremonies.

Schools describe the ceremonies as “private” or “intimate,” likely out of deportation fears, requiring advance registration and only revealing the location to confirmed attendees.

Many of these events are hosted by university resource centers for illegal alien students, which provide instructional guidance on how to handle interactions with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers to best avoid arrest and deportation. These centers also often provide taxpayer-funded legal services for illegal alien students.

1. University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego)

The University of California, San Diego in La Jolla, California, promotes an annual “UndocuGrad” ceremony through its Undocumented Student Services office, describing it as a “special graduation ceremony honoring the achievements of undocumented students.”

While a date for this year’s event has not been publicly announced, a March social media post advertises the UndocuGrad ceremony as an upcoming event.

A June 2025 social media post advertised last year’s event, which included a free meal for attendees and up to four guests, and said that “details of the ceremony location will be sent to students via email after RSVP.”

“To ensure a private and intimate event, we kindly ask all students who wish to attend to RSVP by the deadline to reserve their spot for UndocuGrad,” the post states.

2. California State University, Sacramento (Sacramento State)

California State University, Sacramento, also known as Sacramento State, will host its fourth annual “Undocu-Grad Recognition Dinner” April 30.

“Students will receive a special Monarch butterfly stole, certificate, and will have the opportunity to thank their loved ones and mentors,” the website states.

Social media posts indicate that each graduate will be given one minute to speak. The event is closed to the public, and the location is shared only with registered attendees.

The program is hosted by the university’s Dreamer Resource Center, which also offers scholarships of up to $4,500 per academic year to illegal alien students.

3. California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona)

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in Pomona, California, will hold its “UndocuGrad Celebration” April 25.

The university describes the event as recognizing illegal alien students’ “Journey of Resilience” and characterizes the ceremony as a “small and intimate” gathering ahead of commencement. The event is free for students and up to two guests.

“Come celebrate, reflect, and shine alongside your fellow UndocuBroncos before commencement day. This is your moment and we can’t wait to honor it with you,” a university webpage states.

4. University of California, Irvine (UC Irvine)

At the University of California, Irvine, the student group Students Advocating for Immigrant Rights and Equity (SAFIRE) is organizing the 12th annual “UndocuGrad Celebration” on May 23.

SAFIRE shared a social media post advertising the event. Attendees must request access to a registration link, and the event location will only be shared with confirmed attendees.

5. University of Southern California (USC)

At the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California, the Undocumented Trojan Success Assembly (UTSA) is organizing an “Undocu+ Grad Celebration” this spring. A social media post invites students to register, though additional details, including the event’s time and location, have not been publicly released.

Campus Reform is tracking these events and others like them and reached out to the universities mentioned in this article for comment. This article will be updated accordingly.

It would be great for ICE to crash the party. Take the graduates and their parents. Arrest college administration for conspiracy.

That sucks. We can also look forward to 600,000 chinese “students” coming here LEGALLY. I’m fine with foreigners flooding our schools as long as it happens LEGALLY.

I don’t think college grads are high on the list for ICE.

This is virtue signaling that just leads to anxiety among the weak minded.

The solution to this problem is for the Federal Government to cut off grant funding to any and all universities who knowingly and as a matter of policy admit and graduate students who are here illegally. The illegals are taking up resources that could be going to US citizens and those who applied for legitimate student visas.

“The event is closed to the public”

But The Public (=Me) gets to pay for it

And that’s why the schools and their administrators want illegal immigrants. The schools get paid by the state and feds.

If I were the feds, I would find out how many illegals were graduated and bring federal charges of discrimination, by the school, against American legal minorities(for keeping the legals out of the school in favor of the illegals). Fine the schools 1,000 times the cost of educating each illegal graduate....lets see...50 students at $100000 per 4 years = 5 million. One thousand times 5 million = 5 BILLION. That would be enough to shut down all superfluous school finances. Maybe even bankrupt most schools. Don’t think the schools would advocate doing that again.
IMHO

STEM graduates get automatic green cards unless they’re from China.

I think there is a federal law against harboring illegals.

I suspect some universities have awful legal counsel.

Yep. These people who protect illegals are felons as well. Rats wouldn’t fail to arrest magas if the tables were turned.

I think there is a federal law against harboring illegals.

It ought to be treated the same way as harboring any criminal fugitive from justice - that's what illegal immigrants are.
