Mikie Sherrill’s Ramadan Hijab and Palm Sunday Silence: Selective Faith for Political Gain?
New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill has never been shy about showcasing her solidarity with the state’s Muslim community. During Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr celebrations that concluded in mid-March, she made sure the cameras were rolling. Sherrill visited mosques, posed for selfies in a traditional hijab, and posted warmly on social media: “Assalamu Alaikum and Eid Mubarak, New Jersey!”
The images circulated widely—governor in headscarf, breaking bread with local Muslim leaders, emphasizing inclusion and respect.
Public appearances during Ramadan draw attention
That was then.
This past weekend, on the eve of Palm Sunday—the Christian holy day that opens Holy Week and commemorates Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem—Governor Sherrill was otherwise occupied. She delivered remarks at a “No Kings” rally in Princeton on Saturday, March 28, railing against the current administration in standard partisan fashion. By Palm Sunday itself, March 29, she was reportedly still recovering. Fair enough; politicians get tired too.

nice comparison, observation. I wonder if the Governor has 2nd thoughts when she looks at herself in a mirror. She needs to just CONVERT to Islam, and wear the whole 9 yards, cover her face, and look out of the slits for her eyes. Don’t forget the clitoral removal and genital mutilation part.

Clinton, Obama, and Biden all made a point of appearing at Christian worship services. The current crop of Democrats may see the need for any public display of piety, even if pretended and hypocritical.

The word "Islam" is derived from the Arabic root s-l-m and literally means voluntary submission or surrender to the will of God.
We have too much freedom in the West, especially now that there is a cultural and political vacuum. With Islam, you don't have to worry about that lol.

As a fellow USNA alumnus, it’s hard to muster even a modicum of respect for this individual. Reminds me of the USMA graduate who proclaimed his belief in communism, and displayed a communist message in his uniform hat.
