Climate Change and CO2 Derangement Syndrome
Watts Up With That ^ | 3/10/26 | Jules de Waart

(. . .) From January 2023 to April 2024, the temperature rose by a full degree Celsius. This increase was spectacular and inexplicable. The warming during the entire industrial period (from 1850 to the present), the main reason for the IPCC’s concerns, was about one full degree Celsius. Established names in climate science, Zeke Hausfather and Gavin Schmidt, wrote a joint article in the New York Times stating that: “We do not fully understand why 2023 was as warm as it was.” Gavin Schmidt was in 2024 even more outspoken: “Climate models can’t explain the 2023 huge heat anomaly – we could be in unchartered territory”’. But the decline that began around April 2024 and continued throughout the year 2025 was equally inexplicable. In unchartered territory, the IPCC could no longer be our guide. We do not really know whether or not this cooling continues in 2026 and later, but we can be sure of one thing; CO2 and other greenhouse gases cannot have been the dominant cause of these temperature jumps. CO2 concentrations rose by about one percent a year, far too little to have had such dramatic effects!

“They” will find a means to warp the data to their worldview, however convoluted that “reasoning” is.

This is bollocks. It wasn’t even a particularly hot summer here in the Deep South.

We are in solar cycle 25.

The sun's output with solar flares, etc., is varying more due to this.

The climate cult are people that worry about things they have no control over. That said the main underlying purpose of it is to usher in more totalitarian control.

Gee it’s almost like THE most powerful source of thermal energy might affect our climate, eh? 😉

Desperate people no doubt. I wonder how many years were averaged to find the one degree change during the Industrial Revolution.

There’s a few simple things to keep in mind about the Climate Change scam.

1. Sun is a huge nuclear furnace over 3 million times the size of Earth, and its energy output is not static.

2. The Earth’s orbit is elliptical and is heavily influenced by the 2 gas giants resulting in an orbital cycle of 100,000 years or so.

3. The Earth wobbles on its axis which creates another cycle of about 25,000 years or so.

4. CO2 is a trace gas absolutely necessary for life on this planet. It represents only 4 parts per million of the total atmosphere. In simple terms if one had $10,000.00 representing the total atmosphere, CO2 would be 4 cents.

In summary, these are just some of the variables which make accurate predictions about “climate change” virtually impossible.

All excellent points. The only exception is that our current atmospheric CO2 levels are at 430 ppm.

Underwater volcano spewing water vapor into the atmosphere that was expected to raise temps slightly until the water vapor worked its way out of the atmosphere.

“Climate Change and CO2 Derangement Syndrome”. They should live in KS for a while...climate changes here nearly every day.

"Gee it’s almost like THE most powerful source of thermal energy might affect our climate, eh? 😉"

On an average day, 8.9E+21 MWh (32E+30 Joules) of energy from the sun strikes earth's atmosphere.

To the best of my knowledge, the triple-reactor nuclear power plant at Palo Verde, Ariz. is the most powerful in the nation. If all three of its reactors are running balls to the wall, it only produces about 95,000 MWh in electric current per day.

The Little Boy atom bomb (est. 15 kt yield) only released about 63E+9 Joules.

Joules released by 1 kt of TNT according to Stanford University:

The sudden temperature spike followed the massive under ocean explosion of the Tonga volcano, about 1,000 miles north of New Zealand, in the south Pacific Ocean.

From memory, the explosion increased water vapor in the upper atmosphere by 30%.

Most experts believe that Tonga was NOT the primary cause of the temp spike.

There was also a strong, warm water, El Nino current in the same time period.

One other factor - cargo ships are now required to burn only super-clean fuel that dramatically reduces particulates.

Particulates enhance cloud formation over all the oceans.

The absence of normal cloud cover may have contributed to the temperature spike.

The temp spike is clearly visible on the UAH Global Temp Satellite chart.

For the last 12 months, the downward momentum is also clearly visible.

The Global Temp Satellites measure temps at 14,000 feet, so their samples are pristine.

The two scientists who are in charge (since 1979) are very professional. They have never supported the man made, run away, CO2 theory.

I will add that earth temperature must be measured in an open system. Some method of curve smoothing (at least 10 years) must be used to find information in single years data.
