The trans nonbinary suspect accused of shooting a US Border Patrol agent in New Hampshire on Sunday has been charged with attempted murder and assault of a federal officer. Blu Zeke Daly, 26, of Manchester, previously known as "Cullen Zeke Daly," reportedly pulled a vehicle up to a closed gate at the US-Canadian Pittsburgh Port of Entry and fired gunshots at a Border Patrol agent when approached.

Daly sustained injuries during the attack when the Border Patrol agent returned gunfire, striking the defendant in an act of self-defense. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 20-years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to US Attorney Erin Creegan, authorities suspect that Daly self-identifies as "transgender or non-binary." Daly previously possessed a "Massachusetts driver's license that was denominated to be male and now has a New Hampshire driver's license, which is denominated to be female," the attorney told local news. Court documents obtained by the outlet reportedly show that Daly was granted a name change in 2024, requesting the change to reflect his nonbinary identity. ...

Isn't the term "trans nonbinary" redundant?

To my limited knowledge about these terms, trans means you are switching genders and nonbinary means you claim no gender.

How can both be true or how can either be true?

They claim non-binary means not just male or female. So if he's a transvestite, he's claiming to "trans" into something other than just male or female, including a "combination of both".
