Russiagate quietly reaches Supreme Court as justices asked to allow feds to be sued for FISA abuses

Litigation brought by a key figure in the Russiagate scandal has quietly reached the Supreme Court, giving the nation’s nine justices a chance to weigh in on an investigation that has become a symbol of law-enforcement and intelligence abuses during the Obama-Biden era.

Carter Page, an energy consultant who briefly served as a foreign policy adviser to President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, became the subject of an FBI counterintelligence investigation into possible Russian election interference known as Crossfire Hurricane.

In 2020, Page filed a federal lawsuit seeking damages from then-FBI Director James Comey and other former officials, including former Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

He alleged that they violated his constitutional rights by submitting false or misleading information to secure the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA) warrant, and that he was wrongfully surveilled as part of a politically motivated investigation.

Page sought hundreds of millions of dollars in damages, arguing that the surveillance severely harmed his reputation and career.

Federal courts ultimately dismissed Page’s lawsuit. While the Justice Department acknowledged serious mistakes in the FISA process related to Page, the courts concluded that those errors did not entitle him to monetary damages from the named officials.

The Supreme Court is currently considering whether to hear the case, Carter Page v. James B. Comey, in the 2025–2026 term, but as of now it has not made a final decision.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Another interesting case. SCOTUS released an Order list this morning, but this case wasn't on it so they are still considering whether to take up the issue.

They have to be able to sue them directly as well as they broke the law.

” the courts concluded that those errors did not entitle him to monetary damages from the named officials “

Cuz the Gang don’t want nobody makin’ life hard for them.

The entire reason for the American Revolution was abuse by arrogant officials. On what planet does the current crop of “authorities” think they have a right to sneer and spit on “the peons” when they do the same?

It’s a major problem that politicians, judges, government employees, etc receive no punishment for violating the civil rights of American citizens. They seldom even acknowledge those abuses. If anything, they just get to say “oops my bad” and move on to their next corrupt scheme.

Exactly -- or it will soon become scam like our local unionized teachers suing our local school district for an ever-increasing list of perceived harms they suffer

The taxpayers pay, and trial lawyers and the teachers union get rich.

It is clear that the FBI will not seriously investigate itself, the courts will not seriously counter internal abuses in the courts, and congress will do nothing, as usual. So basically the FBI is allowed to proceed with impunity in lying to courts to get illegal warrants against US citizens and there isn’t a damn thing anyone can do about it. If the court denies citizens this last bit of recourse then it’s very clear that we do not live in a free society of laws anymore.

Congress could shutter the FISA court tomorrow. But that would require spines.

Cankles was mentally imprisoned by Trump in 2016.
It’s a life sentence.

“Errors”

Lying to federal judges is not an error. But I guess it’s ok when you have a D by your name.

Five plus years for a case to wind its way through the lower courts and end up at SCOTUS.

That’s justice in the U.S.

Yeh, I know. Kash should open the doors of the SCOTUS courtroom, call Comey in there and order him to write a check for hundreds of millions. Why is he waiting?

Better yet. Why hasn’t Bondi grabbed an M4 and assassinated Khamenei? Maybe Hegseth should deport the Maryland dad.

Jeeesh.

No, the reason for the AR was a king who would not listen to his subjects. Under the British monarchy, subjects had no rights and were owned by the crown. Just look at the UK today.
