Squad member and Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is expected to share her thoughts on American foreign policy with a global audience at the Munich Security Conference this weekend, her office said.
The Democrat is expected to speak on two panels at the German conference, her office told NBC News, one about the “rise of populism,” and another about the “future of U.S. foreign policy."
The lawmaker, who is considered a potential presidential contender in 2028, is expected to present a contrasting vision of American foreign policy to that of President Donald Trump.
“It’s very important that they see the full spectrum of representation, leadership and thought of the United States,” Ocasio-Cortez told NBC News.
Ocasio-Cortez's foreign policy advisor, Matt Duss, told the outlet that the lawmaker was invited to speak at the summit, where she will provide a “working class perspective” on foreign policy.
“Her approach to global affairs is very deeply connected to her approach to domestic affairs — based on the same principles,” Duss said. “She believes in diplomacy as a tool of first resort. She’s supported reining in the executive branch when it comes to war. She believes the U.S. has an important role to play around the world, but military intervention is not the way to do that. And there’s clearly a strong constituency in the country that agrees with that."
The trip marks Ocasio-Cortez's first time at the Munich Security Conference, but she previously met with the presidents of Brazil, Chile and Colombia in 2023 as part of a congressional delegation to Latin America. She has also traveled to Japan and Korea on a congressional trip and spoke at a climate summit in Copenhagen in 2019.

I took a look at a few “progressive” blog sites during the 2024 presidential campaign. I was surprised (and not in a good way) how many people there supported AOC for president.
What happened to the old Democrat party? The party of Truman and JFK?
Now it’s AOC and Ilhan Omar.

Not a sentence I expected to read. Is it just me, or is “AOC” actually a moron? She strikes me as completely misinformed on everything, yet confident in her ignorance. How is it that people give her credibility? I thought they would point the cameras at her just to hear the ridiculous things that would come from her mouth. She is supposed to actually be smart now?
