Donald Trump's second year of his second term began with a pursuit to conquer more foreign territory abroad as he attempts to calm unrest over his ruthless deportation campaign at home.
He's navigating the the headwinds of year two of Trump 2.0 with most of his top team in intact.
In his first year, the highest-level ouster came when National Security Advisor Mike Waltz was pushed aside due to his role in the infamous Signal-gate texting scandal. Former Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino exited his role in December, after complaining about mounting stresses on his family life.
One government insider told the Daily Mail there isn't likely to be many significant shake-ups on Team Trump ahead of the 2026 midterms. Indeed, the president seemed quite rosy about his team's performance this week during his Cabinet meeting.
But working in Trump's volatile orbit means riding the highs and lows of the news cycle while always trying to stay in the good graces of the fickle commander-in-chief.
Staring down a hostile electoral environment ahead of the 2026 midterms, the advice and counsel Trump receives will be invaluable.
Barring the unthinkable, the president isn't going to sack his No. 2, JD Vance.
But as immigration operations have sparked unrest in Minnesota - and Trump Border Czar Tom Homan has taken the reins from Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem - one insider warns that Noem is losing trajectory fast.
The Daily Mail assessed the president's top 10 advisers to determine who's rising, who's falling, and who holds real power in the West Wing.

The author is a moron. The President can’t “sack” the VP. They’re both holding elected office.
“Deportation chaos spirals”
LOL!!! STFU, wench
Professional journalists should understand their topics. But professional journalism has long been on the decline throughout the West.
> The President can’t “sack” the VP. <
I kind of like the UK Daily Mail. They love their sensational headlines. But they will often report on things the US media would prefer to ignore.
Nevertheless, you hit the nail squarely the head here. The author of this article didn’t bother to do some basic research. The American president cannot fire the vice president. It’s an independent position.
Deportations did not “spark” anything. Liberals protesting caused the unrest.
They are all mostly great. Really like Scott Bessent. He really shines in tv interviews by a hostile press. Marco Rubio a very close second.
Susan Wiles will be the first to go. I suspect the Vanity Fair interview was just too much. But Trump is the loyal type, so he will not move her out immediately.
Susan Wiles is the classic case of the Peter Principle; the cream rises to the top and spoils. In other words, she has been promoted beyond her level of competence.
The DM gets WORSE every single day. Was once fun to read but now it’s a crashing bore, same old, same old anti-American, Anti-Trump garbage and the people who post comments are really stupid. I was commenting for awhile but got sick of the bullschtein.
kinda like a cesspool ... big pieces float to the top ...
Ah, our Daily Dose of Daily Malevolence. Whatever would we do without it?
Pure TDS wishful thinking gussied up to resemble “news”.
A pox on them!
Susan Wiles does need to go. She gave what was it?
ELEVEN different times! Eleven times palling around with the ‘enemy’ gabbing and gossiping, and still, she did not see how badly her candid remarks could be used against the White House?
I think Trump likes having at least a few trusted people nearby who are close to his own age group.
That’s very understandable, but this lady may have overstayed her usefulness. At very least, her opportunities for direct influence on the president should be greatly reduced.
At least so far, Pam Bondi and Kash Patel appears to be ineffective. They're not acting like Bill Barr or Mike Pence from what I've seen.
I hope the dems get wiped out in the midterms.
“Susan Wiles does need to go.”
Yes.
Supposedly, Bondi was Wiles’ pick.
In the country illegally? Go home. Nothing ruthless about it.
“the president isn’t going to sack his No. 2, JD Vance.”
As if he could. Is this author a certified retard?
Yeah good luck with that. Its not the Dems who are going to get wiped out.
“the president isn’t going to sack his No. 2, JD Vance.” -— Unless there is a secret part of the Constitution...
Asking AI.
Under a 2026 scenario like the 2018 midterms, with Trump voters staying home:
📌 AWFUL (Affluent White Female Urban/Suburban) voters could comprise roughly ~20–25% of the electorate.
Under a 2018-style midterm scenario with Trump voters staying home, Republicans would likely lose ~24 vulnerable seats in 2026, dropping to ~196 seats and handing the House majority to Democrats.
