Got a rat of an ex? One Texas zoo will help you move on… and benefit wildlife conservation efforts in the meantime.
New Braunfels’ Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo has a special Valentine’s Day program for those of us who aren’t feeling the spirit of the holiday this year.
“Love Bites” is the zoo’s limited-time Valentine’s fundraiser to support its wildlife conservation fund.
“Whether you’re laughing off a breakup, poking fun at an ex, or just looking for a unique way to give back, Love Bites lets you do it in a way that helps animals and protects wildlife,” the zoo’s website reads.
Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo noted that Love Bites is a “symbolic contribution experience” for people 18 and older.
How it works:
You make a contribution to support Animal World & Snake Farm Zoo’s conservation and animal care efforts
You can name a rat after your not-so-special someone
That rat becomes enrichment for one of the zoo’s animals
You get a shareable Love Bites moment to laugh, heal, and spread the word
According to the zoo, each Love Bites contribution helps support daily animal care and enrichment, habitat maintenance and improvements, conservation education and outreach, and wildlife awareness and protection efforts.
Naming is optional and must follow the zoo’s community guidelines. Only first names or nicknames are allowed, and no slurs, hate speech, or identifying personal information will be accepted.
Each Love Bites contribution costs $25 and can be purchased online.

Not good!
Humans are quite strange.
That is so sick.
If they let you know when your ex was being thrown in so you could watch and maybe record it then it would probably get a lot more donations.
Texans really are...different.

A little zoo near us has a similar program where you can buy & name a cockroach & they’ll feed it to the skunks. I think it’s funny & the skunks are quite happy!
