"My fellow Americans..."
Self ^ | 1/27/2026 | Self

A rough draft of a speech I think POTUS should make:

My fellow Americans; just over a year ago, I was overwhelmingly elected on a law-and-order platform that included a promise to stop the invasion of our country by aliens who were allowed, and incentivized, to enter by the previous administration.

I promised to enforce our immigration laws, already on the books, and this includes deportations primarily and initially focused on some of the worst, known, criminals. It should be no surprise to you, the people, that I have acted to fulfill my promise because a country without protected borders is not a real country, and a country that does not stand for law and order cannot be great; I simply want to Make America Great, and Safe Again. Now, there are those who are opposed to this proposition, ask yourself why.

The previous administration made several arguments in various courts that immigration laws and enforcement are entirely the responsibility of the federal government, even when the border was being overrun, and the great state of Texas was acting to protect it. We take this responsibility very seriously and therefore the federal government through its agencies, including ICE, will continue to perform its lawful functions throughout our country. Some jurisdictions may proclaim sanctuary status but this is meaningless with respect to federal immigration laws; yes, this may keep local and state governments from cooperating with our agencies, but it does not give anyone especially elected political leaders the right to instigate, incite or provoke, violence against federal law enforcement officers. The people of our country have a right to peacefully assemble and protests, but there is no right to impede, obstruct, attack, assault, or threaten any kind of harm to our LEOs. Going forward, anyone who commits these acts will be charged with perverting the course of justice, or more simply, obstruction of justice, per federal law. We are also tracing funding sources for what it appears are paid professional protesters, these persons or entities will also be charged in accordance with our laws if violations are determined.

In a civil society, it is in everyone’s interest to respect the boundaries of what may seem, however misguided, to be a worthy cause for protest versus deliberately antagonizing law enforcement personnel trying to do their jobs in already stressful and volatile situations. In the simplest terms, if the police are chasing bank robbers, it will not be a good time to insert yourself between the two parties; it will not end well, this cannot be too difficult to understand.

There is a much larger issue here, and it’s about the refusal of many elected leaders on the other side and the left, in general, to acknowledge that they lost an election, and that we were given a mandate to govern this country pursuant to its laws, and the powers of the constitution. What they’ve done, just as in my first term, is sown the seeds of chaos at every single opportunity in order to make it almost impossible to do those things we were elected to do. With help from the mostly friendly media, they’ve amplified every single one of these situations, which they engineered, condone, instigated, for political gain. The legitimacy of immigration enforcement, and federal personnel presence in any location of this country cannot be disputed no matter how often politicians or the media do so. There are no local or state immigration laws, only federal ones; I intend to enforce them, as promised, and for the benefit of all Americans, in every city, every state, every jurisdiction. We will not surrender our streets and cities to violent protesters; we have to make America great, and safe again.

Thank you, etc.

Just a thought here, as a way of addressing this issue, as opposed to letting the left run with it 24/7. Also, not an excerpt, no need to visit source.

Good job. Hopefully he will do something in that vein, and perhaps even more. 😁🤙

I would have started out a little differently...

“Men, all this stuff you hear about America not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the war, is a lot of horse dung....”

Not bad. Trump REALLY needs to use his bully pulpit to make it perfectly clear to all Americans what is happening in this Country. Otherwise, people will watch the lies of the leftists and believe their crazy shit instead.

Great idea, but don’t begin it like a Lyndon Johnson speech.

Very good. I have said much the same thing without your eloquence.

The country is divided over “support ICE” or “oppose ICE” without ever being told what ICE is, what they were sent to Minneapolis to do, and what our fair, bipartisan immigration laws require.

Without being told these things, and with normies getting all their inputs from Facebook or neighborhood chats, only insane Trump fanbois (like me) know reflexively what to think.

Insane Trump fanbois do not form a majority of the country - not even close. The battle of Minneapolis is on the verge of being lost without the case ever being made for the laws that ICE was sent there to enforce.

If Trump and the congressional GOP do not vocally and passionately defend these laws, and not just the men who are supposed to enforce them, why is that?

Is it because they don’t actually support those laws? It’s like “support the troops”. Well, OK, fine, but if the leaders cannot defend why the troops are in some hellhole and what they are supposed to be doing there, then they should bring the troops home until they figure out what they (the leaders) really believe.

President Trump, in the face of overt anti-Federal insurrection, needs to shit or get off the pot. Send the Army, or get the ICE guys out.

He wouldn’t read that. He would read the first sentence and then go off for an hour.

I honestly think he has more important things to worry about.

He should isolate Minnesota. He should remove 2,000 DHS agents and send 2,000 auditors and IRS agents.

He should start to promote the successes he has had in other communities and compare them to Minneapolis.

He can clearly compare and contrast all of this stuff for the mid terms. It’s not caving to Walz; the fraud stuff is going to hang him in short order—focus on that stuff. I doubt if Antifa is going to riot over a couple billion in fraud. And most Americans—left and right—despise real corruption.

We are certainly living in interesting times.

Unfortunately its all about the optics. They are bad and getting worse as the Dems will continue to escalate into November.

I am sure President Trump does not want to be put in a position similar to what happened in South Korea and the declaration of marshal law.

So the dilemma is to allow the Dems to push forward and retake the house bigly, where endless investigations on him will begin.

Or hold onto his Presidency as long as he can and hope things get better for his successor.

My advice would for Trump to have a targeted approach. Invoke the insurrection act but only in those isolated trouble areas. Declaring local martial law and arresting the corrupt leaders orchestrating the problem.

A problem is Trumps own party who will not have his back. They should if they all loved this country suspend the filibuster and aggressively push through meaningful legislation.

Even still rounding up these corrupt politicians and community activists into a court. Will make it so they will be spending time defending themselves instead of meddling in the next election and this will bear fruit on its own.

Thanks for your comments and feedback, all; appreciate it. Hopefully, President Trump will address this issue at the SOTU (or before) but it needs to be addressed or the left will have found a magic formula for creating narratives and influencing voter sentiment. Sorry for the delay responding, I had to post and get to work right after. Thanks again.

Thanks, what you’ve said is the problem in a nutshell; the narrative cannot be allowed to stand, there’s too much at stake in the elections coming up.

Thanks much, Jim; I agree with much of what you’ve said. So far, it seems that Congress have had little to say about this situation, and it appears that when they do, it’s from the RINO crowd running for the hills. As you’ve suggested, as with any “war” the mission needs to be defined, explained, and defended, and the LEOs need to know that what they are doing is worth it - this, in light of the ongoing threats from the other side to prosecute them when they take charge.

Interesting times, yes. I think anything that can be perceived as “TACO” will not go over too well with the base, and only feed the orcs on the left. It’d make for a simmering summer of chaos, almost a guarantee. I do agree that he should send in the IRS, and yes, he should talk about the progress made in other jurisdictions. IMO, he cannot cede this ground to the left or they will make the rest of his presidency a complete failure when Congress (do-nothing, as is) is lost. I hope you are right about people not liking corruption; should be helpful, when it is all exposed.

Thanks, M. I agree with all of what you’ve said here, starting with, “My advice...” and hope that if he does address the matter in a speech, that he will almost immediately follow it up with these actions.
