wInNiNG: China will steal everything they need from Buick before they leave—as they have been doing since they arrived— although why would they need to? The Chinese cars are becoming far better than anything our DEI engineers and designers can come up with in every measure, not counting reliability and durability.

China currently don't need to steal anything from GM on cars.
They make better cars than GM.
This is not the 1980’s anymore.

The reason why GM killed off Pontiac instead of Buick was because China saw Buick as a luxury brand in their country.

Can we have Pontiac back now?

Sadly, as this is GM, it will not improve the quality of the end product. At least it will employ Americans.

That’s less a comment on Chinese cars and more a comment on just how bad GM cars are. :P

Truth being said, Buick is way behind the current Chinese brands. The real reason is likely that they don’t sell in Asia anymore.

Ask the Chinese what they think of Chinese cars. The Chinese say they’re sh*t.

I voted for this. Bring American auto company jobs back and continue to see the transplants (VW, Hyundai, Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, Kia, Audi, etc) continue to invest more in America and expand their production capacity here.

I wish Chrysler would bring back Plymouth. That was their best brand....the Superbird, the Barracuda, the Prowler, etc etc.

Buick does not make cars anymore.
Just sell tree (or four) SUV’s.
One made in Korea, one in China and only the largest is still in Michigan.
I was looking at them, and decided that I will NOT drive Chinese vehicle!
BTW, Chinese vehicles are NOT good!

Just happens to be planned to coincide with the end of Trumps term.

Yeah, because who would want to buy and drive a reliable car that lasts more than a year?

One of my favorite 70s muscle care is the ‘Cuda. Such a pretty car.

GM passenger vehicle styling suffered greatly beginning in the late ‘70s because of their mass downsizing of everything from the thickness of sheet metal (”diet steel”) to requiring catalytic converters and the shift towards plastic parts. Fortunately for them they came up with competitive enough SUV’s and trucks, but their cars went from looking magnificent to mediocre in less than 10 years.

Obama shut down Pontiac for one reason exclusively: The aborigine name is part of the Left’s Ban on Aborigine imagery, team nicknames, and other activism. Obama wanted performance out of the auto industry and had it not been canned, we would have seen Pontiac TCR racers that would sell.

He seized General Motors because they didn’t support his 54.5 MPG CAFE. Remember that.
