This is core teaching in all Christian denominations I’m familiar with.
And it is the one thing that really bothers them. They want to decide for themselves how to behave. They don’t want to hear or be reminded about moral principles — they see these as limiting, restraining, and in some instances requiring them to act certain ways...

Yes, evil is declaring itself and attempting to take over. I’m amazed how many people are on the side of evil. Newspeak has been successful at portraying evil as the new ‘side of compassion,’ for those who think the 10 commandments are too onerous.
The devil is popular because he appears compassionate and on the side of right, which is why so many are fooled. But there is a false morality that the world follows that is neither Biblical nor of God. I think Proverbs 14:12 says it best: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.”
