Which is why a bunch of student loan debt has been defaulted on. Not all by any means but quite a bit.

Way past time to just stop these programs.
It’s clear the bureaucratic system is incompetent AND corrupt.
Can’t afford a college or university? Don’t go until you can.
I spent 6 years in higher learning and paid it mostly on my own. I got a few small grants from the old BEOG program.

I suggest that nobody knows the extent of student aid fraud in any state. In only isolated cases has it be searched for a specific institution in a specific state.
I suggest that there is more fraud in Jr Colleges and for profit 4 year colleges, than in public or religious colleges/universities.
I suggest that there is more fraud perpetrated by the college administration than by the students.
But, again, I suggest nobody has done the research. We only know anecdotal.

Cut everyone’s taxes in half. Let the federal government get along with 50% of its current budget. Maybe then they’d just spend money on real things. Things that mattered.

I did my BS-ElecEngr at a Community College and at a State University. Got a small scholarship at the CC and paid the rest myself. Did it all 35-40 yrs old at night classes. Zero debt. Plus, an EE degree will get you a job. My wife did similar in CompSci. No debts. It’s hard work but can be done if you just stick to it.
Any government program or public benefit will receive applications from 500 percent of eligibles. Even with audits and controls, they will steal.

1) the economy will boom and overheat.
2) Politicians will find it irresistable to borrow more money.
