Man Caught on Camera Trying to EXECUTE Police Officer Inside Walmart — Gun Miraculously FAILS to Fire

Body-camera footage captures the terrifying moment a convicted felon attempts to execute a police officer inside a Walmart loss-prevention room A violent felon was caught on camera attempting to shoot a police officer in the head while inside a Walmart loss prevention room.

The only reason the officer is alive today is because the criminal’s gun failed to fire and a brave Walmart employee jumped into action.

The incident unfolded around 1:45 p.m. Thursday at a Walmart on Atlantic Boulevard NE in Canton, Ohio, FOX10 reported.

An officer with the Canton Police Department responded to a shoplifting call and escorted 21-year-old Shane Newman and 23-year-old Katerina Jeffrey to the store’s loss prevention office.

That’s when things took a horrifying turn.

Newman aimed the weapon at the officer’s head and pulled the trigger but the gun did not fire.

In a split second that saved a life, a Walmart asset protection associate tackled Newman, preventing him from attempting to fire again. The officer then took Newman to the ground and placed him under arrest.

Body camera footage reveals the officer made a split-second decision not to fire his own weapon, explaining he did not want to risk shooting the Walmart employee who had courageously jumped on top of the suspect.

Court records show Newman is now charged with:

* Attempted murder

* Felonious assault on a police officer

* Robbery

* Drug possession

* Having a weapon under disability

Police confirmed Newman was legally prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior felony conviction.

Officers also recovered 50 blue pills identified as Molly following his arrest.

Jeffrey has been charged with complicity to commit robbery.

Both suspects appeared in court Friday. Newman was hit with a $1 MILLION bond, while Jeffrey received a $500,000 bond. They are expected back in court on December 23.

Canton Police Chief John Gabbard underscored the severity of the incident and the spiritual gravity of what occurred.

“This incident is a reminder of the ever-present threat of violence against police officers and the gracious provision of God’s protection,” Gabbard said. “Thank you to all of you who regularly pray with me for our officers and our community.”

Had that gun fired, this would be a very different story.

I noticed a young man in a white shirt who would likely make a good ICE recruit and agent.

It’s the mutant’s thought process that disturbs me the most. The look on his face is pretty revealing to what’s behind this choice. There’s a lot of them out there.

I may be missing something, but I hope Canton Police Chief John Gabbard at least tossed a quick, "BTW THX," to the Walmart employee who saved his officer's life at risk to his own.

“Officers also recovered 50 blue pills identified as Molly following his arrest”.

Molly is slang for MDMA, a psychoactive drug often associated with party culture, known for its stimulant and hallucinogenic effects. It is typically sold in capsule or powder form and is popular at raves and nightclubs.

This kid is a punk.

“After Newman’s arrest, officers recovered 50 blue pills identified as Molly, according to the records.”

From Google Gemini AI:

“MDMA (an abbreviation of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine), also called “Molly” or “Ecstasy,” is a lab-made (synthetic) drug that has effects similar to stimulants like methamphetamine. It is typically sold illicitly as colorful tablets with imprinted logos, capsules, powder, or liquid.”

That Walmart employee will most likely be fired. I used to work at Walmart, and employees are instructed not to do that kind of thing. Supposed to leave it to law enforcement. So this guy was doubly brave. Risked his life and risked his job.

I hope Walmart does the right thing, but I’m not holding my breath.

Probably about 15-20 years ago when I was living in Louisiana, a Walmart loss prevention officer made the mistake of following a thief out to a waiting getaway car and ended up getting run over and killed :-(

SERIOUSLY?

That employee SAVED A COP'S LIFE! If Walmart takes ANY action against their HERO employee, there will surely be OUTRAGE and many who will no longer shop there. Either that or a GoFundMe/GiveSendGo page will be created for him.

That Walmart employee should be given special recognition by that police dept. That cop should've capped his arse the minute he reached into his bag.

Let me just say that there is policy at Walmart that makes sure that by the time somebody gets into the Asset Protection room they have slam-dunk legal evidence that it was for sure deliberate attempted robbery.

These 2 characters had a lot of chances to know they were in trouble. They had to be total losers to go this route.

What happened in Louisiana might be why Walmart tells employees not to pursue criminals but leave it to the police and the surveillance footage.

In this particular case it could be that the cop would have shot the guy dead if the Walmart employee hadn’t acted so it might have turned out the same way, but the Walmart employee had no way to know that.

“That Walmart employee will most likely be fired. I used to work at Walmart, and employees are instructed not to do that kind of thing. ...”

I guess it’s a good thing you didn’t hold your breath then!

News5 Cleveland reports that Walmart released the following statement: “The safety and security of our customers and associates is always a top priority. We’re proud of the brave action our asset protection associate took to maintain the safety of everyone in our store. We’ll continue to work with police as they investigate.”
