Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was on “Fox News Sunday” to discuss President Trump’s use of tariffs. He was also optimistic that the Supreme Court would side with President Donald Trump on emergency tariffs.
“What did and didn’t get accomplished when Presidents Trump and Xi met face to face?” Bream asked.
“What do you make of his characterization of what happened in China?” Bream referencing Rep Hakeem Jeffries’ inaccurate comments on President Trump.
“I think it’s ignorant, and I think it’s kind of sad he has no idea how ignorant he is, because I was in the room and I can tell you I was there for the President’s entire trip and it was a tour de force,” Bessent said.
“The President went into Malaysia, signed trade deals, peace deals with Thailand and Cambodia,” Bessent said.
“We moved onto Japan. The President and the new Prime Minister of Japan had great chemistry,” Bessent continued.
“The meeting with President Xi was one of great respect and many accomplishments,” Bessent said.
“What do you make of their characterization of you?” Bream asked regarding a Washington Post article referencing Chinese negotiators that may have upset him.
“Highly inaccurate and look we saw that Chinese manufacturing has been down for 7 months in a row. So, let’s do the math. The liberation day, April 2nd. Where are we today? November 2nd, seven months. Chinese manufacturing has been down every month,” Bessent said.
“Their trade with Europe is up 10 percent, but it’s all discounted. They’ve depreciated their currency and the Chinese economy, they are in the middle of a real estate crisis,” Bessent continued.
Secretary Bessent also talked about the rare earth minerals and explained that it has been a problem for many decades, and that the administration is working hard to become more independent in that area.
“We are going to be moving at warp speed,” Bessent said.
“We didn’t get here in a year. This is a problem that has been with us for several decades. It’s never been addressed with the rare earths. The rare earth magnets. The Chinese have cornered the market,” Bessent said.
“You’ve lost in the lower courts so far. How do you game up on Tuesday’s or Wednesday’s argument?” Bream asked about the upcoming Supreme Court hearing for tariffs.
“I’m quite optimistic, and Shannon what I can tell you is that because of what the Chinese did on October 8th of threatening to put export controls on any rare earth products that they produced that had .01 percent of rare earth produced in China, that they were gonna try to control those and the President was able to push back,” Bessent said.
“If that’s not use of an emergency power at an emergency time, I don’t know what is,” Bessent explained.
“Then we go back to the Spring. This terrible fentanyl crisis. It’s an emergency,” Bessent continued.

“Ignorant “?
That’s candy-coating it.
Hakeem is a deliberate habitual liar.
Hakeem is a wretched human being.
Hakeem is a self-absorbed, narcissistic jackass.

Hakeem is a perfect Democrat..................
I was gonna say “ignorant” is the kindest word anybody could use to describe Hakeem.
Chucky B Schumer thought it would be useful to grill good old hot dogs and hamburgers in the American family tradition to put focus on the foodstamp mess and shape it to his benefit.
His back yard grill wasn't lit, had plastic models of burgers and hot dogs. The hot dogs had printed grill marks on them. All staged. All fake. Not kosher. (he had cheese on the hamburgers) But they were plastic fakes anyhow, so keeping kosher is secondary.
Shanon Bream is a liberal pretending to be a conservative.
WILLFULLY ignorant.
Prove it.
Ignernt...............
I’ve known more than a few ignorant people in my life. All of them would have watched Jeffries and stated: “I may be ignorant, but that guy is stupid.”
Jeffries is a moron, but he may be right...for all the wrong reasons. He said Xi punk’d Trump, implying that China got the better part of the deal and Trump got nothing. What is more likely is that the person Trump spent 40 minutes with was not actually Xi Jinping, but a body double.
The Xi at the meeting spoke all of five minutes, reciting from a canned script of platitudes and generalities. He never brought up Taiwan or other territorial disputes that are vital to the legacy of the real Xi.
Trump then read from a list of “agreements” that Bessent had authored and the Xi double nodded to each without comment. They then shook hands and the meeting broke up.
The Xi at the South Korean Apec meeting is almost as tall as Trump at 6’3, yet his listed height is 5’9 and in all prior pictures with both men, Trump towers over Xi.
His delegation stayed at the Kowlon Hotel, a remote four-star “Holiday Xpress” rather than the palacial Hilton five-star hotel usually booked for Xi. This would have been an insult to the real Xi but makes sense if you are trying to save a few bucks on the stand-in.
The West insists on refering to Xi as President even though this is a fake ceremonial title that makes him sound like he’s democratically elected instead of appointed by the CCP elite.
As Trump will eventually realize in the ensuing year before the US tariffs go into effect, the CCP has no intention of honoring any part of this phony trade agreement. They will rope-a-dope and run out the clock on Trump, waiting for the midterms when the Democrats take back the House, the Senate strips him of his tariff powers, and the next round of impeachment hearings kicks off.

Then seize every inch of Chinese-owned property and resell it for pennies on the dollar-just like we did to German-owned property in WW I
And the Senate doesn’t control tariffs-only the House.
 That's when I quit reading!

Always soft ball questions to liberals, more hardball questions to Trump people.
